Rivers? Really?
I could make a better case for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Agreed, Chargers bias put aside, he hasn't had a real "Rivers" season - it's been very lackluster compared to what he's capable of.

Other Packers chosen were WR Greg Jennings, FB John Kuhn, OLB Clay Matthews, DT B.J. Raji, C Scott Wells, and CB Charles Woodson.
Matthew Stafford and Tony Romo as alternates

Rivers is maybe a case of things evening out- remember back in '08 when he was blatantly more deserving of an AFC Pro Bowl snub than Favre?

Rob Gronkowski headlines a list of eight Patriots selected to the AFC's Pro Bowl squad.
Gronk and the Saints' Jimmy Graham dominated the field at tight end. The other seven Patriots: QB Tom Brady, WR Wes Welker, LG Logan Mankins, RG Brian Waters, DT Vince Wilfork, DE Andre Carter, and special teamer Matt Slater. The Bengals' A.J. Green became the first rookie receiver voted to the Pro Bowl since Anquan Boldin in 2003. Quarterback alternates in a weaker AFC field include Tim Tebow and Andy Dalton.

ESPN.com: The Patriots led the AFC with eight players picked, while San Francisco (8) edged out Green Bay (7) for the most selections in the NFC.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and Philip Rivers are a lot closer statistically than you think:
Fitzpatrick has 22 TD passes to Rivers' 24, both have 19 picks, and the QB ratings are not far apart (86.6 for Rivers, 80.7 for Fitzpatrick) plus a near dead heat in completion percentage (62.4 for Rivers, 62.0 for Fitzpatrick.

Other Packers chosen were WR Greg Jennings, FB John Kuhn, OLB Clay Matthews, DT B.J. Raji, C Scott Wells, and CB Charles Woodson. Matthew Stafford and Tony Romo as alternates Jennings is a bit of an odd pick, because while he's been having a stellar year, he's also been out the past few week with a knee injury. I would've expected Jordy Nelson instead. Also, no Tramon Williams to join Woodson at CB? Williams has been as much of a big play guy as Woodson has.

Rivers strikes me as a reputation pick more than anything. Well, that and the AFC's been really weak on QB's this year. Outside of Brady and Ben, the only really standout guy is Schaub and he's out.

The fact that the Eagles have more Pro Bowlers than both the Giants and the Cowboys just helps to solidify how disappointing the team has been this season.
Also, I would've sent Newton as the 3rd NFC QB. Not because I think he's better than Manning (though I do think he eventually will be) but because I think he'd be a blast to watch in the Pro Bowl.

Newton should be an alternate. If he isn't already that is. Something's inherently wrong if Tebow is an alternate on the AFC and Newton isn't.

At the end of the day the Pro Bowl doesn't matter much, and I've always wondered why analysts always use "he's a Pro Bowler" as a selling point for a player. Don't get me wrong, I love it when Broncos go to the Pro Bowl, but it's nothing more than a fun game.

Seahawks get 5 for NFC. FS Earl Thomas is in as a starter. SS Kam Chancellor, RB Marshawn Lynch, P Jon Ryan, FB Michael Robinson are in as alternates.

Oh yeah and CB Brandon Browner. So 6 total with the 5 alternates. Not a bad haul this year.

The pro-bowl is largely a popularity contest. If you are well known, you have a lot better chance of getting in then if it's your first rodeo. That's why Tebow had a better shot, with the media blitz surrounding him, he got to be really well known, really quickly.

Matthew Stafford was robbed! Fixed for obvious truth. Stafford should have been the 3rd QB picked. Yards: Stafford 4,518, Manning 4,587 Completion %: Stafford 63.7, Manning 60.3 TD's: Stafford 36, Manning 26 INT's: Stafford 14, Manning 16 QB Rating: Stafford 96.6, Manning 90.3 And Stafford did throw to other guys besides Megatron lol. I'm not insanely angry about it or anything, but he did deserve it. I will say that Manning did a great job in weathering the storm that has been the Giants season, Stafford has as well. Oh well, the Lions are getting hot again, so I'd rather Stafford do well in the playoffs than have a Pro Bowl nod. It just would have been nice to see him recognized for his great season....which was much more than just tossing bombs to Calvin Johnson.

Jason Taylor will retire after this season, sources tell the Miami Herald.
