Or at least a good amount of it. Anyway, after playing it, I found myself marking out at the wrestling references that the characters Killbane and Angel make. Yes, I am aware that the characters are supposed to be former wrestlers and one of them happens to be voiced by the Hulkster himself, brother.
Anyway, why do I get the feeling that some of the people who were involved are or were wrestling fans? I mean, sure, some could make references to moves and such, but a reference to the Montreal Screwjob, that, right there, just says that someone involved has to be a wrestling fan. Most, if not all, wrestling fans have to know about that.
By the way, since I have little to do these days, these past couple of days have been occupied with playing this game. I had been playing for hours. I find this one to be as addictive as the second game, if not more.

I am in absolute love with this game. It's one of the few that I actually bother with the side stuff before the missions. Just tons of fun.

I played a bit of 2 once but the extent of my exposure. It was decent, but dunno that I'll look into 3 - wasn't anything spectacular and I'm one of those people who loves Grand Theft Auto 4 so seems like it's just not my thing. Still, does have me curious.

I should be playing Saints Row: The Third some more, but it has unfortunately been(literally) buried under my giant pile of Christmas games and games I bought w/ Christmas money.

Very good game. Certainly the funnest game I've played this year. I was surprised, as well, about the wrestling references. I wonder how my wrestling-hating friends will react to em once they get that far

Yeah, you can easily tell they took a LOT of stuff from the Smackdown games, especially the taunts.

I can not wait for the reports of this game turning kids bad when little Billy Johanson takes a giant purple dildo to the playground and beats another kid

As much as the wrestling reference's were a mark out moment , the best is still the final mission basically being an 80's movie climax with the music.

This game is a real GTA rip-off/clone but I have to say it's one of the funnest games I've played in a long time. I'm playing it now and I'm having a total blast. I love how it doesn't take itself seriously, it's so refreshing.

A lot of the taunts/compliments the main character gets are taken right from wrestlers. At the very least I've seen Cena's "You can't see me!" taunt, Ric Flair's stylin' and profilin' (complete with a "Woo!"), Hulk Hogan's Hulkamania gestures, and Sting's "Woooo!" shout. There's probably a couple of more.
I'm really liking this game. I'm not sure if this was a scripted part of the main game or not, but Sublime's "What I Got" came on the radio and my character (went with female 1 voice, aka Laura Bailey) and Pierce sang along to it. That was epic.

It's scripted because it happened with me as well.

Definitely scripted, and was absolutely hilarious with my character, who I gave the zombie voice to.

Aaaand now it's stuck in my head again, thank you thread for reminding me of the final mission.

Yeah, I got my character (cockney voice) & Pierce singing to "Funky Cold Medina" by Tone Loc. I like the fact the running attacks are mostlywrestling moves too, like flying clotheslines, Float over DDT's etc. Hell, they even reference the Montreal Screwjob!

I eventually gave up on the game for how glitchy it was. I couldn't go a single mission without it glitching out like nuts, I'm talking damn-near Sonic 06 levels. When it wasn't glitching, I enjoyed it.
The directors of the game have said in interviews that they are lifelong wrestling fans, and not just WWE. I think one of them said they are a regular when...it's either RoH or Chikara...comes to town. But only the taunts they had through the Smackdown games could be used, otherwise they would've loaded the game up with them.

I'm just wondering what entails of a "Montreal Screwjob" in the crime world.

I'm just wondering what entails of a "Montreal Screwjob" in the crime world. Telling someone how the deal is going to go down, then when that someone tries to do the deal i.e. negotiate the other people do it a different way i.e. shoot everyone there.
