Hey, when a woman shows an ankle, it's fair game IMO.

You know, there is one thing that I have never understood. If some girls dress a certain and don't like it when a guy looks at her a certain way, why does she dress like it to begin with? That's like going to a water park or beach and not expecting to get checked out. Girls who go somewhere dressed in a bathing suit are bound to be looked at. I had a co-worker who is a very busty girl. She often wore v-necks and shirts that showed a ton of cleavage. Naturally guys would look but every time they did and she spotted them doing it, she would cry. It was really odd. The problem is she was so busty and popping out of her tops that you couldn't help but spot them. It's not that you were necessarily being pigish, but even women stared. To be fair, If she was really as busty as you've said she's probably more than little self-conscious about it. I mean Assuming that everything was natural, she'd probably been getting stares and wispers most of her life and with the exception of (More unprofessional) baggy tops her style of dress could have been more a matter of getting something professional that fit her body type.

I may be guilty of this! My office pretty much has no dress code, and my standard wardrobe consists of low cut tops, push up bras, mini skirts and short dresses, so I wear them to work frequently. My boss always comments on how she thinks I have awesome style, so there's no problem!

Nah, she was always a show-off. I doubt very much she was self-concious about it because she always made sure to wear those low-cut tops on special occassions when many people would get to see her. She was all made up, had perfume on, and had an outfit on that showed off her body to maximum effect. Naturally people will look and guys will stare...then she'd cry about it. She was always a weird girl.

Time to retaliate, my friend. Find the shortest short shorts you can get your hands on and strut your stuff at work.

It might surprise you to hear that wearing no makeup makes people see you as unprofessional or incompetent. The maximum amount of makeup tested in the study led to the best results in terms of people seeing the woman in the photo as professional and good at her job. I wear makeup at my job. I don't see it as an invitation for a man to stare openly and rudely at my breasts. Moreover, I love perfume. It's an art form... there are top notes, that you smell immediately, then the middle notes that settle on your skin for a while afterward, then the base notes that linger at the end of the day. I don't wear perfume so that people will stare at my boobs. I wear perfume because it's delicious and it makes me feel happy. If someone was staring at her breasts overtly enough that she noticed or was made uncomfortable enough to cry about it, that was not her fault for wearing makeup and perfume. Makeup and perfume is not an invitation to be rude to someone.

Makeup and perfume is not an invitation to be rude to someone. I have no problem with what she wore or what anyone wears since it is their business. The problem I have is that she was always this big drama queen who did a lot to get all kinds of attention yet would then get all upset about it. Not just with the cleavage issue but she was also a notrious trouble-maker. She'd spread all kinds of gossip, was fairly nasty, and was a back-stabber. When she was confronted on these things, she'd break down crying all the time and act like she was the most bullied woman in the world. I work in a daycare by the way. Most of our teachers don't wear any makeup and dress very casually. Jeans, t-shirts, running shoes, etc. That's pretty much the standard in this field. The way she was dressed wasn't really appropriate for our clientele. Of course people are going to stare at her in shock. It wasn't just the fathers but also the mothers and the grandparents. She went overboard. She was dressed like she was going clubbing. She made sure to overdo it to get all this attention on purpose but then would get upset by the very same attention she went out of her way to get. I didn't mean to insult anyone, I just found her to be very weird about this. It's probably one of those things that one needed to be there to really "get it" when it came to her. You had to see her in action to fully appreciate the situation.

That's not really fair. I wouldn't be able to focus on work if there were women dressed provocatively in the office.

From my work experience at my two main jobs:
- An office job for a mutual funds company where the dress code was incredibly strict - The job I'm at now, where the dress code is ridiculously lax
Women will look for any chance they get to push that guideline to the limit. At job #1 I was probably at least a decade behind all of the women there in age, but that didn't stop them from dressing as provocatively as possible. One manager had to be in her 40's but she would wear low cut button up tops all the time, with tight skirts/pants and heels. Every time she came over to my desk I was imagining porno sax playing in my head. With the job I'm at now, one girl actually got fired for dress code violations, and boy oh boy did she have to work at it. Here's the highlights:
- We affectionately nicknamed her "Porno June Cleaver" as she had a penchant for dressing like a 50's housewife...that happened to have her boobs popping out constantly - Learned after the fact that she would make at least 2 stops a day to the ladies room to redo her hair and makeup...so A for effort - Obviously, none of the guys at the office had a problem with her. But apparently her work wasn't too great, which in retrospect probably was the bigger reason she was canned. I can confirm that the outfits did not help her case though (talk with the firing manager and all) - Basically it all came to a head when people from our parent company visited the office one day and saw her. Apparently they said something about it which resulted in her being formally reprimanded for attire violations - Her reaction to this instead of a normal one (get a little more conservative and do better work) was to photograph other women around the office to prove a point of "See? I'm not the only one who dresses like this around here!" It was a fair point, but shockingly, photographing people against their will was a big no-no. And she didn't change her style one bit. - Oh, and her Linkedin profile (which employers frequently will look at) links to her Twitter, which we were able to EASILY find topless pictures of her on. They were under the guise of modeling/photoshopping the background out of, but I feel you could do that with a picture where you have a shirt on, maybe?
Again, her point of a LOT of girls in the office also dressing provocatively was extremely fair, because I'm convinced some departments hire solely based on looks so you can woo prospective clients. I just choose to go the "no one to impress" route and stick with t-shirts/jeans/sneakers, only busting out anything resembling actual style for special occasions.
