I actually thought this was decent. first one is still the best. Depp is the perfect choice for Sparrow. Did anybody else like the movie?

Pasted from rarely updated blog written at 6am.
This one hurt. I am a huge fan of this series, I steadfastly defend POTC 3 to the ends of the earth as one of my favorite blockbusters of all time, so when this movie came around, I just couldn’t get over how utterly passable it was. The plot was pointless even for summer fun and made little to no sense. Also I wish that this love affair with Penelope Cruz would end, it’s not just because she can’t hold a sword, but Oscar be damned, she is not a good actress. Sure she can do angry and perturbed Latina, but I went to school with 400 people that could do it better. So it is with a great sigh that I give this movie a resounding, eh.

I didn't loathe it like some other people did, but it's my least favorite POTC film to date. Too many incomphrensible plot twists, the mermaid angle felt tacked on and the ending felt too much like a rehash of At World's End.

I liked it, but some of the new characters bugged the shit out of me. Still better than Bloom and Knightley, though. Ian McShane was awesome.

I LOVE 1, 2, & 3, but On Stranger Tides was just a huge yawn. The only things worth seeing were the mermaids and Blackbeard's ship, both of which we didn't get enough of. The ship could breathe fire for crying out loud and it was only in 2 scenes! The mermaid attack was basically the only serious action scene. They didn't do nearly enough explaining about Blackbeard. Why is it that he could conjure himself up some zombies right the f*** out of nowhere? How did he shrink the ships? How the hell did his ship manage to catch the Black Pearl, the fastest ship in the Caribbean? The Flying Dutchman couldn't even catch it and that ship was captained by the "devil" himself that could TELEPORT! Davy Freakin' Jones had to resort to calling a bloody kraken to get it! How did Blackbeard manage to snag it with seemingly little effort!? I refuse to believe he's more of a boss than a guy with tentacles for a beard and a crab claw for an arm. Davy Jones' crew was supernatural and they couldn't do dick all to the Black Pearl's crew during the big fight scene. Blackbeard's crew of mortals just caught them on a bad day or something? I know we got rid of Bloom & Knightly, but damn it all if it didn't feel like they were still there. They FORCED that love story between the cleric and the mermaid down our throats even when we didn't give a damn. Who was clamoring for this? All it did was drag the movie down even more. We wanted Jack Sparrow being Jack Sparrow, awesome effects, and mindless action. I'll never understand why they shoe-horned in a pointless love story that nobody wanted. On Stranger Tides had such potential, but they wasted it. The best thing to come from PotC:OST is the techno remix of Blackbeard's theme. No shame in saying that I can listen to that all day.

Somewhat off topic, but I think I'm one of the few POTC fans thst really didn't mind Will and Elizabeth. The first film was basically their story anyway, but Jack wound up stealing the show and the following two films were then understandably centered around him, pushing Bloom and Nightly down to the supporting cast.

At World's End was all about Will & Elizabeth. They got cranked up to 10 in that one. Hell, Jack didn't even show up until half an hour into it. It was all about Will's daddy issues and Elizabeth's descent into piracy. No matter which way you slice it, "Elizabeth Swan: Pirate King" is just wrong.

I liked Will and Elizabeth, sure they overpowered the third movie and the pirate king thing was kind of odd, but that whole movie was just pushing the envelope in terms of WTF. I liked it.
Meanwhile 4 had SPANIARDS! for some reason.

I liked it. I hated 2 and was bored by 3.

I liked it, but I was irked by some of the new characters. I couldn't even tell you the names of the guy that basically replaces Will Turner or the mermaid...and they just freaking vanish by the end of the movie. At least you know where Will and Elizabeth end up...those two just up and disappear.

It was okay. I didn't much care for the romance subplot, and Geoffrey Rush was still badly under-utilised. A movie focusing on the rivalry between Jack and Barbossa would greatly please me.

Until people bring it up, I completely forget that I even saw it. So, I guess it wins least memorable film of the year in my book.

Very meh. Which is disappointing since I'm a fan of all 3 preceding movies.
Forgettable. Nothing special.
Let's put this way. If I'm getting a POTC boxset for my new PS3/BluRay, I'm getting the trilogy and not the newest boxset.
