Well. Amiga 2000 workstation did cost $1500 when it debuted in 1987. A PC would be about the same. Amiga 500 would cost about 700 USD.

Yeah I didnt have a decent PC at that time and I was wondering why my dad didnt upgrade to an Ibm or Amiga and was wondering the prices because that probably was the reason.

It's amazing how expensive computers used to be. My mom bought the first ever Mac and I believe she's told me it was $3000. And didn't even have 1 Gb. Also amazing is the fact that my mom actually bought that considering that she was a single mom with no money. But her money situation had gotten to the point where she could make that investment, since having a computer was incredibly helpful for her career, and it ended up being an amazing decision.

The Apple IIe computers went for $1400 back in the 80's, which is about $3000 in today's money. and you're cell phone probably more powerful. applemuseum.bott.org/sections/computers/IIe.htmlI think my first computer was about a little under $1000, with a whopping 128K of memory and less then 30mb of hard drive space, back in the early 90's.
