Fie and a pox upon the naysayers, I am loving this title reign and hope it lasts all the way until Mania. Initially I thought he should have dropped the strap to Bryan, but in the long term, I think this was the better move, as the championship seems to be slowly regaining some of its lost prestige.
We've got a long way to go before the titles feel as meaningful as they should, but this reign definitely helps.

I realised with the fake out Cena "Win" last night, how disappointed I'll be when this ends. It's truly remarkable and I want it to tip over a year.

HiaC vs Cena is going to be a hell of a big obstacle, though. Might need something big to get out of that one.

So Vince can have his wet dream of Rock/Cena II for the strap unfortunately.

If nothing else, this is the guy thats taking the belt off of Punk anyway. Damn I never thought I, as an admittedly huge "attitude era" and Rocky fan, would ever be so strongly objected to a Rock title win. That really would sting if Punk lays down 1-2-3 to the Rock after all this time.

Rock , a part timer getting the belt is bad to some folks but he is prestigious, and the rub from beating Rock down the line would be huge. I just think its bad because if he does win it, its going to lead to a Cena rematch most likely. Which is a waste, for the title no less. I really dont know who else can take the strap off of Punk besides Rock or Cena at the moment. Who else is there? No one is really built up for such a win. And this is why WWE needs to start building other folks up around the mid card or something. Punk is losing to Rock or Cena though. Though a Punk/Rock/Cena at Mania would be fine.

It's good they're making the belt mean something at last. For years it really didn't matter who had it as it'd change almost literally month by month. At one point it became futile even committing the champions name to memory.

I'm now hoping that Punk holds the strap all the way 'til Mania... have him overcome Cena / Rock in the meantime... and then let someone lower down the card win the Rumble and face him at 'Mania. If done correctly, it could elevate that person significantly, especially if they go and win the title in one of the Main Events. It would be a nice throwback to when winning the Rumble or getting your first major title win at Mania actually meant something.

He's got about 22 days, I believe, to beat Brock Lesnar's total combined days, so about 28 to beat Diesel. Wonder if he'll pull it off. Again, I'm talking cumulatively, not individual reigns.

Hell in a Cell is 5 weeks away. He's not dropping it on a Raw or Smackdown. He'll get past Brock and Diesel. I still would love for Punk to ring in 2013 as champion and say "I'm gonna beat Bruno Sammartino's record!" He'll never actually beat it, but just him saying he would would be great.

The most glaring problem with this is that John Cena appears on this list 3 times. His longest 3 reigns add up to 793 days as World Champion, and that's not counting the other 8 reigns. That is WAAY too much time for 1 guy to have a deathgrip on a World Title in this day and age.

Funny how this list excludes anything before 1988. Punk's reign would be a dot compared to Sammartino's 2,803 day reign.

Honestly I think its pretty awesome for some recent to be on this list that many times, as much as they like MITB SHOCK reigns and all that.

The elusive dream of the year long reign inches closer! I still believe he's dropping it at Mania.

If Bret were on top in this day and age, he'd get booed just as badly as Cena is. Bret turning heel helped him as well. He also wasn't booked against such ridiculous odds to overcome as Cena. Cena may have worked just as well as Bret did back in that time, but not now.

I just don't see it as a negative. I'm glad to actually be able to watch someone have long reigns in this day and age. And its not like its some no name doing it. And the 380 day reign still is one my favorites.

Every single Cena reign is exactly the same as the last. I'm perfectly fine with Punk's long reign, as it hasn't been a carbon copy of his previous ones. There are actual developments happening with him.

And again, I loved the 380 Cena reign far more than Punk's. Not even close.
