I've been in and out of the Internet Wrestling Community more or less since high school. I've been a member of this board in particular two years next month. And this is the first time I've ever heard someone psychoanalyze someone's dislike of a professional wrestler. I mean, if you hate John Cena, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. If you hate Dolph Ziggler, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. If you hate Daniel Bryan, or the Miz, or Kofi Kingston, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But if you hate CM Punk, then it is indicative of something far more sinister. It couldn't possibly be that you find him stale, or dislike his booking, or dislike who he is as a person, or you just don't see the big deal, no, it couldn't possibly be HIM. The problem obviously must lie with YOU. It's because you hate Independent wrestlers. Or you're some milquetoast beta-male. Or you have some underlying psychological issues from your childhood. Some Freudian aberration. This is why the Punk Paradox exists. This is any thread remotely negative about CM Punk is considered "flame-baiting". This is why CM Punk is seen as the IWC's baby; because he's the single most protected person on the message boards. CM Punk isn't Judd Nelson in the Breakfast Club. He's the band you "don't get", the movie that's "too deep for you", the TV show that's "too complex for you", the comedian that's "too smart for you", all rolled into one. He's the embodiment of every elitist fanbase that says that if you don't like this certain thing, it couldn't possibly be that band or that comedian, it has to be you. I used to think Cult of Personality was just a theme song for Punk, but it turns out, it may be deeper than that. Your condescension doesn't change the fact that obsessive, irrational hate can and does exist in ANY medium. I was singling out those fans who seem to go above and beyond in their hate of Punk, beyond all rationale. Those who just don't dislike him, but inherently dislike those who like him, and need to attack or mock or tear down that like for reasons seemingly unexplainable. You're glossing over a very real dynamic that exists in any fan subculture, and in life in general. I chose Punk as an example, because he is so polarizing; but it could easily be anyone else. It could be a Cena. It could be a Rock. There is dislike, and there is disinterest. And then there is what appears to be obsession in detraction. And that need to do so, HAS to spawn from something. And EVERYTHING can be psychoanalyzed. People have reasons for EVERYTHING they say or do. I hate that when you apply question, logic or reason (and again, it's not to everyone, just the extreme cases) to something, some people get all rattled and offended and defensively reactionary. It's like if I said we as a collective culture are often brainwashed, some would knee-jerk react and say, "No we're not! Blah, Blah, blah!", when the actual reaction should be deconstructing whether there's a possibility that you might or could be. (since it DOES exist by the very nature of how consumerism and propaganda works). It doesn't mean you are, but complete and instant ignorant dismissal allows for lies and corruption to breed. There's nothing wrong with digging a little deeper and looking for "why". I know for a fact that almost every deep dislike I have likely has a psychological reason for it. BUT AGAIN, I'M TALKING ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE, AND WE KNOW AND READ THEM EVERYDAY, THAT GO ABOVE AND BEYOND TO DISCREDIT, HATE OR JUDGE. You can dislike or not even care about CM Punk. You can hope he never is champion again or whatever. But If I say I like him, and I loved the pipe bomb promo, and I found his character a breath of fresh air, there will be someone who shows up, tells me I'm wrong, and goes the extra mile to basically attempt to unravel why someone would or could like him. These particular posts are filled with obvious insecurity. And insecurity comes often from being offended that something you don't believe in is popular, or ego in that you think YOU should be correct.

Well, tonight he defends the WWE Championship against Ryback in a TLC match.
Could the WWE hotshot the title to Ryback?
Could this be the end on an epic long title run?
Will Punk dodge another bullet?

Maybe it's just the fact that inside I'm a complete and utter mark who is desperate to see Punk vs. Rock at the Rumble but I have a deep seated fear that tonight will mark the end of CM Punk's reign as WWE Champion. I hope I'm wrong but this is how I see it going.

I can't see them having a title change on a show that will get a very low rating with the BCS title game. If anything they'd postpone the match until next week when they'll have a huge audience with the 20th anniversary stuff.

Punk to lose tonight.
Win the Rumble.
Brock to cost Ryback the title vs The Rock at the Rumble PPV.
Punk vs Rock and Brock vs Ryback at Wrestlemania.
Profit.

Punk to lose tonight. Win the Rumble. Brock to cost Ryback the title vs The Rock at the Rumble PPV. Punk vs Rock and Brock vs Ryback at Wrestlemania. Profit. I am up for Punk vs Rock at Mania but I still can't get my head around the idea of Ryback vs Lesnar. Lesnar works best with brawlers, wrestling technicians etc not with hosses. I use Lesnar vs Goldberg at WM20 as an example, and although I like Ryback he is still very green and IMO is not the right guy for Lesnar to face at Mania. The rumored Big Show vs Ryback is much better for the future of Ryback's career, if they were to go in that direction.

I think Ryback is the kind of worker who is good at working to his limits. To me Ryback is an old fashioned brawler/powerhouse type and I think his style could work well with Lesnar. Also I feel like Ryback needs something big to hang his hat on. A milestone to define him. A big 2013 including a title run and a big win over Brock Lesnar could do him the world of good. It'd also leave Cena open for Undertaker. Which I think needs to happen sooner rather than later.

50 days since Punk's last title defense. Does his reign get an asterisk for this?

So pretty neat for CM Punk to be WWE Champion for both Raw 1000 and Raw 20th Anniversary.
Let's see someone do Raw 2000 and Raw 40th Anniversary.

Well, we are heading into the possible final weekend of this title run.
CM Punk's biggest threat to date is The Rock.
Will he survive this next challenge?
If not, I can say, at least I enjoyed a rare and probably never seen again 434 day title run.
