Though I doubt he'll make it all the way to Survivor Series, I WOULD like to see that happen.
It's a good way to make up for the multiple changes last year.

I don't even really care much for Punk (I prefer D-Bry) but I really want him to have a year long reign

I think other than Mania and Extreme Rules I've rooted against Punk at every single PPV. Not enjoyed this reign at all, and really kind of hoping he loses it to Cena so that the title can be brought back up to his level.
For the record, I don't put the problem on Punk. The writers clearly just can't be bothered to give anyone but Cena the chance to be taken seriously.

Next up for Punk is knocking off Bret Hart 1994 reign and Hogan's 1991 reign both at 248 days:
Bruno Sammaritino Hulk Hogan Pedro Morales Bob Backlund John Cena Macho Man Diesel Billy Graham Ultimate Warrior JBL Yokozuna Bret Hart CM Punk

Now at 249 days and counting, he's officially passed Hart's 94 and Hogan's 91 title reigns.
Currently now the 16th longest title reign ever.
Next up is 280 days with Cena's first title run.
With the heel turn and possibly holding it until the Royal Rumble, that would be a hell of a run.

I posted this in another thread, but if Punk gets to the Royal Rumble still WWE Champion, he would have held it for 435 consecutive days, longer than any reign except for Sammartino's two reigns, Hogan's first, Backlund's first (or first three reigns depending on your interpretation) and Morales's only reign. 6th longest of ALL TIME. Plus he'd be in the top 10 of all time with accumulated days as WWE Champion.

I just can't see Punk's reign lasting that much longer, who else can he defend against? Randy Orton is coming back, but you know he's not getting the belt. Cena could win it any time. Sheamus is already WHC...maybe Punk could unify the titles? I don't think there are enough face challengers to make his reign last all the way to the Rumble.

As a heel he can stretch it really long with cheap wins etc.

I will honestly be shocked if he keeps it past Summerslam. At the absolute latest I'll give him until Survivor Series and that's a big IF.

The outcome will be obvious, but watching guys like Ryder chase the belt will be fun.

Punk's heel turn has really helped him out. With that being said I expect Punk to hold it until he finally faces The Rock at Royal Rumble and loses finally through a hard fought battle. That's 6 months and honestly without the heel turn he probably would have lost the belt way before then. I say he'll have I don't know, 3 major feuds until Rock if that but he'll definitely be pissing people off holding the belt. It'll be great once Rock wins.
Also apparently Triple H has been campaigning for champions holding the belts for a long time since it brings prestige and respect back to the titles. With that being said Punk's just hit mid-way into his reign. You can thank the heel turn for that one.

I'd like him to be a tweener so he could defend against guys like Show and Lesnar as well. I think he could be pretty awesome as a guy that is loved and hated equally, it plays off his real life "if you're his friend he loves you if he doesn't know you he's a dick" personality.

Well, for most accumulated days, he's definitely gonna beat Yokozuna and JBL, and will more than likely beat The Ultimate Warrior, Superstar Graham, The Rock, and Kurt Angle. From there, things get a little murkier.

For those thinking that it's an absolutely ludicrous concept that Cena can't lose a World title match in his hometown for the NOF PPV, I'd challenge that and say it would kinda sorta boost Punk as a bigger heel.
So don't count out a long heel run for Punk til the Rumble. He's held it 8 months as is anyhow.
