Hoping he holds it until Rumble at the very least. If he can hold it until Mania it will give someone a real Mania moment taking the belt of someone who's held it for a year and a half.

It was only a week or so ago that Rock said on Twitter he was away to Japan next March to promote a movie etc. How can you have your WWE champion sodding off like that? Which says to me that Rock is planning on putting whoever (probably Punk) over huge at the Rumble.

If Punk actually is the one that makes it to the Rumble to defend against Rock, I think he'll succeed and hold it right to mania.

At best, he could win the title just for a quick feel good moment before WWE throws it back on Punk.

I don't care about Bruno's reign, I just want him to surpass the Year of Cena.

I don't care about Bruno's reign, I just want him to surpass the Year of Cena. How much until that? I want him to face Austin at Mania. If Punk beats Cena at SummerSlam and loses to Rock at royal rumble it would seem a bit off. I would understand why the rock won but it would seem such a throw away to have it at Rumble for some reason. If Punk loses at SummerSlam, it would be a 'feel good moment' for those Cena fans but will make the heel turn useless. Even more so if Punk gains the title back between SummerSlam and the Royal Rumble

I say keep the title on Punk until Mania. Hell have Rock lose his match to Punk, then make him a surprise entrant in the Rumble only to win the thing. Challenge Punk to Wrestlemania the next night, and have Rock go over there and drop it at ER.

There's always another possibility, that Cena could beat Punk for the belt sometime before then and face Rock for the title at the Royal Rumble, getting his win back. Not that I'd be hugely excited for another feud between the two, but if they're so dead set on a rematch, I'd rather it be done at the Rumble than at WrestleMania.
Should be interesting to see where they go with this in the future.

I don't see him holding until Jan...that's still a long way to go. I think he'll lose it by fall. He might regain it by the Rumble but as for this one continuing that long...I doubt it.

Rock can easily hold the title for 2 months between Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania and I expect it to happen. They'll just make a point to announce something big like John Cena vs. CM Punk in a steel cage match/street fight for the Raw house shows during that period to make up for the fact that the WWE title isn't being defended. I don't see him holding until Jan...that's still a long way to go. I think he'll lose it by fall. He might regain it by the Rumble but as for this one continuing that long...I doubt it. That's exactly how I see it happening. I expect something like: Summerslam – Punk retains in a triple threat against Cena and Big Show Night Of Champions – Cena wins the title TLC or first Raw of 2012 – Punk regains the title from Cena Royal Rumble – Rock wins the title from Punk (due to possible Austin interference if that match is really happening at 'Mania) Elimination Chamber – Cena wins number one contender chamber match Wrestlemania – Rock-Cena 2 for the title (with Cena winning this time) and Punk-Austin

Count me in amongst those who want Punk to have a very lengthy reign. And I say this as someone who hasn't been very entertained by Punk during this reign...I just want someone to hold the title for a long time after all the belt flip-flopping that went on last year.

If Punk holds the belt for the rest of 2012, I would be fine with that.

Well, he made it past SummerSlam. Now for another few weeks to Night Of Champions, hopefully!

Well, he made it past SummerSlam. Now for another few weeks to Night Of Champions, hopefully! That's the key. The rematch with Cena one on one in his hometown. If he wins there, he has to be a lock to keep it until the Rumble. In between I can see possibly more of Kane, Orton and Mysterio as placeholder challengers until the Rumble. 274 and counting BABY!

I'm starting a CM Punk chant in my neighborhood tonight. I hope I don't get arrested, or stabbed.
