Here we are again, it's Monday night and RAW is live from Hartford with one of the last standalone 3-hour specials before the permanent change. As we lie one week away from No Way Out, the roster is starting to break down somewhat with injuries and suspensions, but you know WWE... they'll find a way to cope.
The big story leading into the show is the return of one Mr. Vincent Kennedy McMahon, and his looming job evaluation of EVPoTR&GMoR&SD John Laurinaitis. Could Mr. McMahon find cause to utter those two famous words to Big Johnny? Or has he been wooed by the People Power message? RAW will kick off with this segment!
For the first time since the Over The Limit fallout show, Big Show and John Cena are scheduled to appear on RAW. Both men have shown their supremacy in the absence of the other, Big Show destroying many midcard faces 2 weeks ago and Cena humiliating Michael Cole last week, ending Tensai's undefeated run in the process. What will happen with these two combustible elements in the same arena just days before their Steel Cage match at No Way Out?
It may be much maligned by some for being unable to get out of the top of the second hour, but there is no doubt that these are interesting times for the WWE Championship. 200+ day champion CM Punk has found himself in quite a bizarre situation with him and No. 1 Contenders Daniel Bryan and Kane all looking over their shoulders in bewilderment at the actions of Bryan's former flame AJ. The diminutive disturbed diva has shown allegiance to Punk by supporting him in matches and wearing his shirt, but she has also shown up at ringside for Kane's matches in recent weeks, unsettling the normally unflappable Big Red Monster. Will AJ's intentions become clearer tonight? And will the three men involved remember that they still have to fight each other on Sunday?
World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus is on a dominant streak, but his scheduled title defense against Alberto Del Rio is in severe question after reports came out in recent days that Del Rio is suffering from a concussion and may not be cleared for Sunday. If anything is going to be announced in terms of what happens next, it will certainly be tonight.
Midcard champs... Christian has been quite the fighting champion in recent weeks after winning the IC Championship at Over The Limit, and with his intentions of cementing a positive legacy now out in the open, he has a title defense against former champ Cody Rhodes to look forward to. Hopefully these two will appear tonight. As for US Champion Santino Marella... he didn't appear at all last week, did he? Well, there's 3 hours to fill, so expect a short match and/or some of his classic comedy stylings.
Tag champs... well... R-Truth is reportedly out of commission with a broken foot, so there might be some developments on that front. Will Kofi Kingston find a new victim... er... I mean partner to team up with? And will someone in the surprisingly growing tag team division step up and take a shot while the champs are disadvantaged?
Divas champion Layla has become milk carton material in recent weeks, but with a PPV on Sunday, look for WWE to pull a contender out of a hat.
All that, and someone gets kneecapped with a crowbar, tonight on RAW!
