The JL is stupidly over powered.
That is all.

Well, I got the chance to sit down and read Batman: Earth One. And I do not get the praise the book is getting.
It just feels utterly redundant. The changes it makes feel like changes for the sake of changes, I hate the characterization of... everyone, I hate how it shoehorns in various Bat-Villains, I hate how it makes the big family connection, I hate how the story is told. Its just goddamn wretched! Utterly and completely wretched!
The arts kind of pretty though and its nicely laid out. So I place the entirety of the blame on Johns. I love his Green Lantern and a lot of his other stuff, but this is just awful.

I mean it SORTA made sense before the reboot when they wanted an updated origin kind of thing, but when you have Grant Morrison revamping Superman again, and the Bat-team needing to change things in the batbooks, why bother doing a different origin book for the same character at the same time? this is the kind of thing that DOES confuse people. continuity isn't the problem, the problem is throwing 5 or 6 different versions of the same exact story at people.

Partially yeah. Batman: Year One is still very relevant and has stood the test of time, so why offer something else. Especially something that clearly doesn't exist within continuity (thanks to the characterisation of Alfred), and is frankly a terrible story that does nothing but harm to the Batman mythos. I really wouldn't mind an updated origin but it has to stand up to Year One and this falls criminally short.

Agreed. I liked Superman Earth One a lot ( I know some didn't) and felt like, eh if they're just gonna reboot it, why not go with that version?

it's some questionable choices for sure. when Geoff Johns GETS a character he's great, but he's always been notoriously tone-deaf about Batman. dude just doesn't get the character.and I say this as a guy who loved when Green Lantern punched Batman's lights out in GL: Rebirth.

What does everyone think of this guy? With him being introduced I'm seeing no mention of Sinestro and or Hal anywhere. Me thinks they're gonna die. Flashpoint just really did take us back to 1994 didn't it?

I dunno, I think I just prefer team books where you have weak links or clearly under powered characters. When you have a book with Superman, Green Lantern, Shazam, Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter they better be facing the DC equivalent of Galactus ever month else I'm never going to buy that they might lose

I love the excuse given for why he has a gun 'because the ring might fail or run out of charge' it makes sense, but its also so self defeating of the whole idea of having a GL power ring

pfft Hal and Sinestro aren't dying. it's just a new character. that doesn't mean he's replacing the guys hes worked his ass off to get over for no reason. I'm gonna wait and see before judging this. Johns has wanted to add a new human GL for a long time and was going to after the Sinestro Corps War but they told him to wait. I just like how he's not american. a world with superheroes would realistically have heroes from all over the place and it's odd that the first 4 times a GL ring came to earth it always picked an american.

Jack T. Chance did. then again, Geoff Johns killed him off in a way that basically said "this character is stupid so we're getting rid of him".

Chance, and he was lame as well.. and wouldn't ya know it, 1994 or so. I guess at least the guy in the cover doesn't have spikes, chains, shoulder pads or pouches. And his gun actually looks like a gun rather than having like a trapezoid barrel or what have you. That's something.

I still like the current Green Lantern run but... I'm really failing to summon the energy to care. Odd thought though, could that be the 'new' Tattooed Man, who was featured in the early days of Johns run and particuarly in Final Crisis?. Just looking at the illuminated symbols on his arm it seems to be similar.
But... NEW SANDMAN! <squeals like a pig in orgasm>

Over at the Marvel panel, we were told that the teen characters of Marvel have a big Christmas coming up, Gillen is writing a book called Consequences dealing with the AvX fall out, A+X is a new NOW title, which will be Avengers and X-Men teaming and serve as a companion book to Uncanny, something big is coming for the cosmic line, although apparently that term isn't allowed any more and they have big plans for Nova, but it look like it's ersatz Nova plans.
Plus an AvX 'Marvel babies' one shot

Nope, it's an entirely new Muslim character. I think he's Muslim anyway.

So, I'm a bit confused by Marvel's current timeline/continuity.
I see that Ms. Marvel's new series as Captain Marvel is out today, and it appears to be a reboot of the character (new look, starting back at #1), and after reading through it, it seems that the whole AvX storyline isn't happening in it, and isn't even mentioned. This is confusing to me, because it was less that a month ago that Ms. Marvel (old outfit and everything) was being thrown into Hell by Rogue and Magik.
So what gives? Is the 'old' Ms. Marvel just gone now? Is the new series supposed to be taking place after the war is over? Is it an alternate universe? None of the above?
Also, what's the over-under on Cap Marvel's new look being a 'Wonder Woman in Pants' deal and having her change back in less than two years?
