So, I'm a bit confused by Marvel's current timeline/continuity. I see that Ms. Marvel's new series as Captain Marvel is out today, and it appears to be a reboot of the character (new look, starting back at #1), and after reading through it, it seems that the whole AvX storyline isn't happening in it, and isn't even mentioned. This is confusing to me, because it was less that a month ago that Ms. Marvel (old outfit and everything) was being thrown into Hell by Rogue and Magik. So what gives? Is the 'old' Ms. Marvel just gone now? Is the new series supposed to be taking place after the war is over? Is it an alternate universe? None of the above? Also, what's the over-under on Cap Marvel's new look being a 'Wonder Woman in Pants' deal and having her change back in less than two years? no, it's the same 616 universe. she teams up with Spider-man in her new duds this week too (because some people at Marvel like to ship them, for some reason hehe). as far as I understand it takes place after AvX, which is ending soon. basically she decided, after seeing Mar-Vell again during AvX that if anybody was going to pay tribute to his legacy, nobody else but her has any business doing it. honestly I hope she keeps the new costume. I really like it, plus I'm always accidentally calling her Captain Marvel anyway (and I know I'm not the only one). and it's not like anyone's clamoring for Marvel to bring Mar-Vell back so I don't see anyone else taking the name either. they had their chance with Noh-Varr but Bendis is an idiot and gave him a stupid new name/costume instead.

Though I woulda loved if Genis-Vell woulda been popular enough to stick around for the long haul. I loved that series.

Pull List.... Saga #5 - still one of the best on the market. Glory #28 Secret History of DB Cooper #5 Skullkickers #16 Wonder Woman (my last DC holdout)
I also picked up the newest issue of the Activity which kicks of a new arc. Very good special forces comic - co-written by real SEALS. Same writer of Grifter too. Also - new Blacksad!

To tell you the truth, I like Carol's new codename and outfit. It manages to keep the dynamic look of Ms. Marvel while paying homage to the Captain Marvel outfit. (However, I'd love to see Carol with the current costume along with her old Ms. Marvel hair and mask. It'd look interesting.)

I really like the new costume, but her new hair looks stupid as hell. it's right up there with Songbird's terrible hair that they insist on keeping for some reason and every time some artist gave Power Girl soccer-mom hair.

The costume is good, but the silly face mask that she gets when she flies fast looks dumb, and the new hair is a bit......I get they want to make her less a sex symbol and more of a 'proper' hero and all, hence the covering up as well, but the short lesbian do isnt a good look on anyone. The first issue was alright, some great characterisation, and it really made me like Carol after a few years of Bendis writing her as a total bitch, but, was it written as a one shot? There were no hooks, no fore-shadowing, nothing that makes me think 'I want to know what's going on here and will be back.' Avengers Academy is the best comic book on the market. That is all. Venom. I was enjoying, but it's now becoming obvious that Remender's idea of a plot twist, or a plot propellant is to kill someone. Both here and in X-Factor and even in Secret Avengers. Killy McKillington is getting on my nerves, and he needs to be reigned in before he actually kills someone important.

Court Of Owls - Although It's only Volume 1 right now.
The other two are fully collected in one book if that's what you're after (And I'd go with Black Mirror first of these two)

While I was picking up the latest Captain America, I saw that three of the five issues of Spider-Men was out; so on a whim I picked those up. Fun story. Not much to it, but the character interplay between Peter and Miles is fun.

Hey I would also Dark Victory which is a sequel to Long Halloween, I believe. I would also get No Man's Land. It is much longer and more expensive but No Man's Land is a personal favorite of mine. Court of Owls, Gates of Gotham and especially Black Mirror are all great choices.
