I have listened to the original lineup since they came out in the seventies and thought they were great. I went to see the new lineup a little over a year ago and thought they were great.

Slightly OT but Rock n Roll All Nite is the only Kiss song I ever hear played on the radio. A band with a 30+ year career with multiple hits and they only play that one song. They even did that song on Dances with the Stars. It either tells me that Kiss is a nostalgia act, which they are, but even more so how f'd up radio/the media/the music industry really is.

They even did that song on Dances with the Stars. It either tells me that Kiss is a nostalgia act, which they are, but even more so how f'd up radio/the media/the music industry really is. KISS isn't a nostalgia act, they've been releasing records forever including one a couple of years ago. The only reason that you ever hear Rock and Roll All Nite is because that's what the band is known for. Same reason you only ever hear Stairway to Heaven, or Black Dog from Led Zeppelin, Clear Channel picks the song they want and they ram it down your throat. Literally the only KISS songs I've ever heard on radio are, Rock and Roll All Nite, Beth, and Detroit Rock City once. Plus KISS, like a lot of the Rock and Roll giants, didn't have that many "hits", technically they only had Beth which was a Top 10 hit. Hits didn't seem to matter back in the days when record companies would actually nurture talent, so that's a moot point. Anyway, to the OP, I love both lineups, although I much prefer Eric Singer to Peter Criss (especially towards the end of Criss' KISS career, where he was just phoning it in). I like Tommy as well, but I was born into a time where Bruce Kulick was the guitarist, so I don't have a ton of loyalty to Ace (not to take anything away from him, the dude was a riff master and gave them their main sound). But I think the main thing people miss when asking this question, not in this case but in plenty, is the assumption that Ace and Peter need KISS to function when they don't. Peter's releasing books and albums to the best of my knowledge, and Ace is out touring solo doing his own thing. It's not as if they're pissing and moaning, sitting by the phone waiting for Gene and Paul to call them back - they're all adults with their own plans. So long as they're all happy, I say good for them. Gene and Paul can do the KISS thing, Ace and Peter still get paid for it, Ace and Peter don't want to do KISS anymore, so it seems like a win-win for everybody. And then there's the makeup issue, which is a case that I could go on forever about, but long story short the makeup doesn't bother me. I'd rather see the original makeup as opposed to the Starchild, Demon, Donkey, and Orangutan. But really, Paul Stanley is my music hero, as long as he's there I'm happy. It's a case where, these guys aren't going to be around forever, they're going to retire soon, so I'm going to enjoy them while I still can. Plus I'm finally getting to see them live when they come around here, so it's awesome to still be able to see my musical heroes live. If some don't want to like KISS anymore or don't want to support them, that's their right, but I will and I do.

Either: Gene, Paul, Bruce, and Eric Carr or Gene, Paul, Bruce, and Eric Singer a million times this, to me Bruce was the best guitarist KISS ever had. and Carnival of Souls is one of the most under-rated albums ever.

Try and tell me that song doesn't kick ass, you'd be lying to say other wise.

Ah, they're all fine. They didn't change an awful lot despite personnel changes.

The original lineup produced most of my favorite Kiss songs, but I'm just a fan of KISS in general. There isn't a lineup I don't like. Actually i really loved the Sonic Boom album and can't wait to see what Monster sounds like.
