Daniel Bryan always impressed me with his ability to do this on the indies before WWE. He could make the most mediocre opponent look like a real threat, or he could go into beast mode and make you think, dear god, he is about to murder this kid. He's shown flashes of it in WWE, especially his building frustration on NXTs1 and his feuds with The Miz and Sheamus. I look forward to seeing that emerge more for the non-ROH fans who are seeing him rise to prominence for the first time.

As of now, just in WWE? Ziggler, Orton, Bryan, Cena, Punk and Mysterio.

Daniel bryan. even after being jobbed out for ages, and going against someone who never really seems to have any momentum, and facing him about 8 times in a few months (Ted dibiase), the crowd towards the end of the match are gasping at falls, chanting daniel bryan and generally being really into the matches. when at the start they couldnt care less.
bryan's at the top right now with this i think, when he gets to show it in a competetive match. along with christian, cena
all time: savage bret and HBK imo.

None of them:
They are just beating each other up. None of them have just sat down in the middle of the ring, propped open a book, then proceed to read me War and Peace.

Mark Henry. I'm serious. Mark freakin Henry. He dissects his opponents with power, and it works.

HBK, can't tell a story in the ring for s***. The only story he could do decently was "big man VS little man". Thats it. Huh? His comeback match with Triple H, his matches with Jericho, Bret, Orton, etc. beg to differ completely. Shawn's one of the better story tellers ever. Ill give you the Jericho matches. The storyline was awesome, and HBK played his part perfectly. The HHH matches were good, a couple even great, but the story was simplistic. I think Bret deserves most of the credit for the story telling in their matches, and as much as I love Orton, I don't think he and HBK ever really clicked 100%.

Watch the match at Survivor Series 2007 and try to say that he doesn't tell that story wonderfully. Or hell, watch the Survivor Series 2003 tag match, the Mania match with Flair, his matches with Razor, and soooo many more. Michaels was a brilliant storyteller, I don't get anyone saying otherwise.

Jake Roberts used to be a great storyteller in the ring Absolutely! The guy barely has to do any moves in a match and the viewer is still drawn in to the story. It should be mandatory for a wrestler to study Jake Roberts and his ring psychology.

But his story is always the same. He's a showboat who hits all the same spots all the time. Take the Flair match for instance. He's doing moonsaults to the outside of the ring to take out a 60 year old? Why? Nothing in the match said he needed to pull out all the stops to beat him. He was putting on a show. Like he always did.

Dunno whattabout his Iron man match with Bret where he out wrestles Bret (who was expecting high flying stuff) who then tried to do Shawns high spots and fails miserably is a great bit of story telling and his Hell in a Cell with Taker who he just cant get away from were both quality.
Throwing a couple more guys out here Mr Perfect and Dynamite Kid both great in ring wrestlers who could tell a story. Dynamite was ahead of his time and Perfects back ruined what coulda been a great time in the mid to early 90's for him.
