is something I would really enjoy watching. Say Big Show cuts a promo 2 weeks before the Rumble, saying his mom passed away, or his grandma or something. He vows to win the Royal Rumble and dedicate it to his lost relative.
Either fate or an asshole authority figure's meddling lands Big Show as an early entrant in the Rumble, say the eighth entrant. It would be really fun to watch Show kick people's asses and hurl bodies everywhere, and slowly get tired and start selling a lot, once in a while going on a frenzy and eliminating a few guys. Have the announcers put it over huge as a Herculean effort. If he lasted until the end a heel could eliminate him to get themselves some serious heat.
I just think it would be a fresh, fun concept for the Rumble match. Forgive me if it happened before but I can't think of a notable time. It's really just Kane from 2001, but the babyface version.

Kane might as well have been a babyface in that rumble, he was getting HUGE pops. I think Austin even got booed when he eliminated him.

I actually think it would work, especially since Daniel just scooped the title from the man a week and a half ago. The heel in your scenario should be Barrett since he's been getting the better push this year.

Before his push started fading, I kind of assumed they might go that way with Big Zeke.

IIRC, the only time we've seeen a face monster at the end of a Rumble was Studd in 89.

I've got the image of Show riding yet another casket... "NOT AGAIIIIIIIIIIN!!!"

Punk did a phenomenal job as a heel a couple of years ago, eliminating people until Triple H took him out; he might have as much success as a sarcastic face.

Maybe Ezekiel Jackson and Mason Ryan can rule the Rumble. Although neither of them win, they realize that together they are a force, and form a regular tag team.
