I'm not sure where this needs to go but if it needs to actually be in the Rest of Wrestling section, feel free to move it.

– This month on WWE Classics On Demand, various WWE Superstars and Legends are giving the gift of their favorite past or present Superstar in a match. John Cena is included and reveals his favorite Superstar as Dick Murdoch. A match from 1989 pitting Murdoch against Lex Luger is then shown.

I thought Dirty Dick was Slater, not Murdoch? Not that they both couldn't use that nickname. I just don't remember Murdoch being called that.
Could very well be wrong though. Off to Google it, I go...
EDIT: And, according to Wiki, I am wrong. One of his nicknames was indead "Dirty" Dick Slater.
Carry on.

Captain Redneck Dick Murdoch? That's interesting. As a side note, I was watching a match earlier today with Bruno Sammartino vs. Killer Kowalski and the way Bruno made his comebacks reminded me of Cena... except Bruno was well loved and adored by the crowd and Cena gets the polar opposite reaction.

That's weird as he chose Andre the Giant on Vintage Collection this week.

Oh I agree for certain, I think after the Attitude era, it is difficult for fans to accept a full blown kiss-up babyface like Cena. Didn't think he'd ever recover from the reaction he got at the ECW One Night Stand PPV. The fans have been crapping on him forever, but give him credit, he's taken it all in like a pro. I just wonder if the day came to turn him heel whether it would be as big as Hogan or Bret Hart turning heel, or a dud like turning Sting, Goldberg, or Austin heel. And with Cena being from Boston, I would have figured his favorite would be a WWF guy like Hogan rather than a guy like Murdoch, especially when you consider Murdoch's style of wrestling. He was an ass kicker much like Harley Race.

Awesome choice. Murdoch was a fantastic in ring talent and promo guy.

That's weird as he chose Andre the Giant on Vintage Collection this week. I saw that. I also noticed WWE are trying to retcon Andre as being the greatest ever legendary superstar in their company's history.

Andre did make Vince a lot of money and helped him put the WWWF on the map. A little respect for the big man...RIP.

I also noticed WWE are trying to retcon Andre as being the greatest ever legendary superstar in their company's history. Not to take anything away from Andre's contributions because he is rightfully regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, but there HAS BEEN a recurring trait of Vince inserting him at inappropriate times. Like at the RAW 10th anniversary show when they included a huge chunk of the in-memorium montage to Andre the Giant despite his never appearing on Raw and dying within a month of the program's debut.

Odd choice. Considering his age, how much of Murdoch's work would he have been exposed to?

What about the fact that they made the WWE Hall of Fame specifically to Honor Andre

The most ticked I can remember being about wrestling was Murdoch and Slater putting Scott Steiner out of action when The Steiners were absolutely ON FIRE as a tag team and by far the biggest thing I marked for on all of television.

My question is would Cena have picked Hogan if Hogan were on good terms or did someone pick Hogan already?

That's weird as he chose Andre the Giant on Vintage Collection this week. And I remember a "Five Questions with the Champ" where he mentioned The Warlord as his favorite wrestler.

My question is would Cena have picked Hogan if Hogan were on good terms or did someone pick Hogan already? Back in the day, he went on the record several times as saying Hulk Hogan was always his guy, so yes, you'd be right. Watch his 'Before They Were Superstars' package from 2002, he flat out says seeing Hogan defeat Iron Sheik for the title was the day he became a full-fledged Hulkamaniac and wrestling fan.
