Okay, here's the deal. I wasn't near my television Monday and had to read along in the Raw thread to keep up with happenings. I was kind of bummed to read that the Philly crowd was dead, although several forum members said otherwise. Well, I just got around to watching Raw on youtube. And unless WWE piped in some noise, I'd have to say that the Philly crowd that night was perfectly fine and hot for Punk, Bryan and Ryder.
Maybe the naysayers had their volumes turned down, or maybe they just expected more. But I thought the atmosphere really worked and that the three champions are well over with the crowd.
What do you all think?

Generally they were fine, but for a Philly crowd they were a little lacklustre. They had their moments, but even from the start they were quieter than the average Philly crowd.

From what I heard, it was anything but dead. The reason for that lack of serious pop during the main event was due to genuine surprise over the entrances through the crowd, and also because wrestlers almost always get smaller reactions during their second appearances in a show.

Philly's usually a hotbed, and a good pulse for the IWC. So, with Ryder, Punk, and Bryan as new champs, plus the return of Kane's mask, they should have been clinching their butts so hard they saw stars.

Fot a normal crowd they were okay, but for Punk, Bryan, and Ryder standing in the ring with the top 3 titles in Philadelphia, it seemed underwhelming. I was expecting a Punk at MITB type reaction.

I'm guessing a lot of people were expecting the Philly crowd to be more smarky, but each year we get one year further away from ECW's day, and younger people don't remember it all. Much in the same way, Raw will be here in Memphis in 2 weeks, but the "Memphis heat" doesn't really exist anymore. I just got in on the tail end of when Memphis wrestling was hot, and I'm almost 30, so the 25 and younger crowd know nothing of the Memphis wrestling scene and only know the "Gospel according to WWE."

They were plenty hot for Cena and Kane. If the guys being pushed as the new generation of stars can't draw that same sort of heat, that's not the fans' fault.

What do you all think? Yeah, I was watching some of it this morning, and I thought the crowd was pretty hot for those three. I didn't realize some people said otherwise. Then again, judgments of crowds can be quite subjective based on what someone is expecting or what they're hoping to hear. I remember a long time ago someone said that there were "crickets" during a DBD match. I watched said match later, and there were actual "DAN-IEL BRY-AN" chants going on... hardly what anyone could call a non-reaction. So, yeah. I always take people's assessments of crowd reactions with a grain of salt until I see the show myself.

I read a report that said that the crowd was really hot for the champs but I guess the arena was just badly miked because I felt the arena was sort of dead. On the other hand, the level of "X-Pac heat" Alicia Fox got must have been surreal because it was clearly audible during the segment.

I was there and the crowd was a bit quieter than I remember for other events, but there were several chants for Punk, Ryder, and Bryan. At the very beginning we couldn't get our "CM Punk" chants right. Half the crowd was chanting "CM" while the other half was chanting "Punk" at the same time. So, it kinda came off on tv as nothing. The reason the lack of pop for the 3 at the end was because most people (including me) couldn't see where they were coming from.
I did see more kids than usual, mostly all with Cena shirts on.
The crowd is waaayyy different than it was 10-15 years ago.

I was there live.
Crowd was fine. It was mostly a family crowd so idk why people were expecting a ton of loud obnoxious nerds screaming stupid stuff. There was one guy in my section who was talking about "Jonny Moxley" and screaming at his girlfriend when she was chanting things he didn't approve, but that was it. Just generally a well behaved mostly family crowd.
