I have seen a pic on the net of shawn michaels wearing a nwo shirt in about 96/97. I understand they were his best friends and stuff but he was the WWF Champion at the time. Why the hell did he have a shirt on of the rivals top draw? It's like Edge wearing a Jeff Jarett shirt now.
Does anyone have any details of why that pic was taken and what Vince thought?

Are you sure it was a pic from 96/97 and not from 2002 when Michaels was in the nWo briefly? It could be just an easily made mistake.

I remember seeing the pic in an old Apter mag. It was around 96-97.

To mock them. Didnt he spray WCW on the mat once.

It was in a PWI and it was one of those
"these wrestlers are just like us" segments where they show wrestlers out of the ring

I've solved the mystery. Here's HBK during his shortlived involvement with the nWo in 2002: However, this pic seems to be from around 1996-7 (you can tell by his hairstyle) and shows HBK in an nWo shirt. However, if you look closely, you can tell it's simply a photoshop job. The logo on the shirt looks faint, and check out the sleeve on the right side of the pic...it's digitized. Hope that solves everything.

Uh yeah that is a photoshop, and even if I was a moron and couldn't tell, that's not the same picture the thread creater is talking about. I've seen that one, I had the damn magazine.

But there was that time in 95/96 where shawn wanted to join wcw badly, but was one of the few WWF Draws left. He did the clique sign while wearing a outsiders shirt.
THAT pic is 10000 % real

I've got the magazine from back then-there were rumors at the time that Shawn might jump to wcw to be with his friends-one headline was "Is Shawn's heart still in the wwf?" I think after Shawn did the "Too Sweet" hand gesture, the next night on Nitro, Nash said something like "right back at ya HBK"-there are legit pics out there,I guess Shawn wore it because he was friends with Hall,Nash etc. and he was ballsy enough that McMahon might have not liked it, but he got away with it anyway, besides I think Shawn was out on the town and wore it to a club or something so he was on his own time, it's not like he showed up at a Raw or a ppv wearing it

Well OK not Jarrett but say a TNA shirt. You get what I mean. Why did Shawn wanna jump to dubya c dubya in 95/96? He was given back to back rumble wins. And was given the title in 96 and he practically ruled that entire year. If he had of jumped ship then, he would have shit on everything Vince gave him.

yeah he just wanted to have fun with his best buddies nash n hall and ruling wcw as part of the nWo.
Hall himself said in an interview: " you think the nwo was a good concept? now imagine shawn in hogans position! he has that whole clique mentality that hogan never had"

Yeah in around 96/97 he wore an nWo outsiders shirt in one of those cheesy wrestling mags. I remember marking out for it back then.

Shawn in Hogan's spot would have been awesome. He would never had got his back injury either. But who would have led DX? I don't think HHH was a credible main eventer in 97.

The point is, DX wouldn't exist. Triple H might have gotten together with Chyna, and the New Age OUtlaws might be there, but Shawn Michaels was the necessary ingredient from the beginning to make the DX. After Triple H has transferred from snob to rebel, shawn could have (and did) leave. Without Shawn, Triple H couldn't have made the jump from snob to DX leader, at least not immediately.
