Which was right around the time Joey started working for Impact. He finished up a few dates with them, but I wouldn't be surprised if he had to give up any booking positions immediately. Again, this is speculation on my part. I barely know Joey, and I haven't straight up asked anybody else, cuz I wouldn't feel comfortable doing so. It's possible, but likely it wasn't connected to Joey. PPRAY & Candice last got booked at DTABM, their match was ok but it didn't even make the video preview. I think that's where Dragon kinda gave up on them. I don't think Joey had anything to do with booking even before he left. He did recommend a lot of guys that got booked (Drake, Cage, etc.) but he didn't book cards. Anyway, I hope Avalon & Rosas in particular get one more chance this year. I can live without another Kadillak, Famous B or Candice match. Taylor I still like, and RockNES are great. Is there a story to why Avalon and Rosas haven't been in PWG of late or is it just a case of them being Joey Ryan's guys? They are magnificent perverts.

I have absolutely no idea. Neither does Peter.

In a perfect world, Peter & Ray, RockNES, Mack, Ryan T, Famous B, Shaun Ricker, Chris Kadillak, Freddy Bravo, Los Luchas, Brandon Gatson, Caleb Konley, Brandon Bonham, Jerome "LTP" Robinson would be highlighted. With them slowly mingling with the fly-ins and getting some nice showings, and eventually some victories. Gradually phasing out most of the fly-ins and using these guys. Gatson to me is probably the most baffling of the lost, as they kept yo-yo'ing him in their booking when the guy, in my opinion anyways, was good & looked like he could've been a top name for them.

Exactly. With Generico gone, I would say the only permanent fly-ins should be Steen, Davey, Roddy, SSB, and Cole. With guys like Chucky, Eddie, Sami, Ricochet and Elgin as semi-regulars, and Everyone else as Special Attractions. That leaves a lot of room for PPRay, Kadillak, Sky, and the like, with some room to bring Candice in if they can get a high profile woman to come in. All in all, PWG is a SoCal company, and it's starting to NOT be a SoCal company. I don't like that.

If PWG only booked local guys I'd probably stop following it. Part of the appeal is seeing well known indy names in a different element.
But with that said, I have had some reservations over their booking this year. One of my biggest pet peeves over the past few years is that we haven't seen a proper heel champion besides the Young Bucks since Human Tornado held the title. Plus it seems like they're way too willing to put their angles on hold to push the current indy darling to the moon (eg, pushing back the Steen/Cage feud in order to put the title on Cole).
But still at the end of the day they with the way they produce themselves, and with their lighthearted approach, they're still my favourite company at the moment.

I agree with your list for the time being though. But as soon as SSB have dropped the belts, I'd demote them to the semi-regular position. Move Elgin up and let Cage & him tag more regularly and let Chucky float between full time fly-in and semi-regular. With him acting as a part time partner for Ryan, to further move Ryan up the card & build him up.

I miss when PWG had f***ing angles and compelling feuds.
I'm really sick of the spot fests every single show. Ok we get it you guys do lots of cool moves.
Give me the Candice, Hero and Tornado angle any day

Neither mjolnir or myself are saying book only local guys. What we're saying is that, up until this year, the under-midcard was mostly local guys, with the main eventers being a good mix of national talent and high caliber locals. Now, it seems like, "CZW, ROH, and Dragon Gate guys, with a few California guys."

What Mayhem said. While every indie in the world tried to be ROH back in the day, PWG always felt different. Yes, it used some of the same talent, but it also had it's local boys, the Super Dragons, the Joey Ryans, Scott Losts, Scorpio Skys, Excaliburs, Discos, and so on.
PWG has always had it's own identity by using some of the best talent in the world and bringing it in to challenge SoCal's best of the best.
It feels like that's slipping away, and has been for a while.
And, I echo what Hammer said too. I want more storylines and feuds again. Cole/Steen is okay, though it's lacking the edge right now some of the past stuff has had to it. Admittedly through no fault of either guy, as I feel like Steen's his usual self and Cole's been stepping up and delivering.

In response to the complaints that PWG isn't using enough SoCal talent, I like it as it is. With Generico and Ryan gone now that will prob open a bit of money to be spent on jobbers like Avalon, Rosas, and Kadillak if thats what you guys really want.

PWG used to showcase locals more prominently at a point when they had 20+ shows a year. It helped cut costs. Now with roughly 10 shows a year, all are booked as blockbusters.

I really think they should re push Willie Mack and give him the title after a feud with Cole. He is pretty much homegrown, not a fly in talent, has a great story from watching PWG in the crowd to becoming champion and he is a fresh face holding the title.
I can understand what people are saying about them needing to feature more SoCal talent instead of fly ins, I do miss those insane 6 man tags with home talent, BUT every company needs to grow in some way or another. They are in a transitional period at the moment as they only have Dragon and Excalibur left out of the founding six. They still need the big names, and the big names are doing really well in the company at the moment. They just need to find more time for the LA talent thats all. I would bring back LTP and others full time to even it out. On a side note, I still really miss Human Tornado and he would have been great as THE top guy at the moment, shared with Steen, if he hadn't retired.
My main point being the shows are still great and I don't think we have anything to worry about. I think the Bucks title reign will be short and they will just be working which tag teams they want to make, bring back and feature. I also hope and think they are going to be bringing more LA guys back and hopefully elevating Mack to the next level into a feud with Cole as I think its the best way to go. Also I would like another Steel Cage match, that would be great. I love GW but another Cage Match for the company could do great business given the right feud and talent

I do miss the local guys. PPA and Goodtime especially. Joey seems to be helping his guys out with TNA, which is cool... But i don't miss the same 6 man super spotty/candice harassment matches. I personally hot burned out after going to almost a year of straight shows. It is weird with Willie and Gatson tho- they seemed like they would be the next breakout stars, and they are now either on low card our not booked.
Having said that, DDT was a fun show. I didn't like Drake v Sami, but I would like to see Sami against some locals... He was cool.

He was cool. 6 shows in 3 years is hardly almost a year straight. hahaha My problem with local talents is compared to the fly-ins, they stick out like a sore thumb in terms of talent and presence. I'm assuming PWG gets more dvd sales, thus making up the costs of throwing shows, using their current model of the biggest indie names they can get. That or we are being deprived of Ryan (steroids) Taylor and Brandon Gatson. Willie Mack I can go either way with, but outside of being the local boy, he doesn't have terribly much support on most cards. Being there live for some of his biggest matches, his biggest triumph was versus Davey Richards. And I base that on both crowd support and just overall execution of the big match situation. I can't see him main eventing in PWG anytime soon.

Insane to think in 9 years, they didn't do a 1 on 1. Should've pulled the trigger at KRR3.
