Inseminoid *Amazon Prime* I do like some early 1980’s sci-fi horror. This one took way too long to get going but it did have some good gore. What really annoyed me was the casting. All the women looked like middle-aged house wives and the men were bland and interchangeable. Everyone was just too old to be in a movie like this. And their voices (especially some of the females) really annoyed me. That just added to everyone being grossly out of place. Some of them couldn’t act for shit either. But if you’ve got a hankering for Alien meets Fire in the Sky meets the Thing on a fraction of the budget then this is one for you.

I probably should have appended this to my last review, but my final tally for October 2020 is 45 movies. Down from last year's 54, but still not the lowest number since I've started keeping track of October horror viewings back in 2008 (I'm aware I'm a huge nerd about this). I've been very busy this year with work, so getting 45 in is respectable. I think I hit 26 but if you consider Killer Klowns from Outer Space horror enough 27 I do.

Anyone have a favorite movie they watched for the first time this October?
Mine would be Messiah of Evil (1973). A respectable second place is Long Pigs (2007).
I’d highly recommend either. I think Messiah of Evil may even be public domain since it pops up in those budget DVD sets a lot. If it’s not then it should be easy enough to find anyway. Long Pigs is in the Extreme Canadian Horror Collection on DVD. You can find it for under $10 but Long Pigs and Werewolf Fever are the only entertaining horror films on it. There is also a sci-fi movie that I still need to watch that could be good. The other two are pretentious horseshit.

Anyone have a favorite movie they watched for the first time this October? I'd go with THE BLACK CAT, and THE NIGHT SITTER as a close second. THE BLACK CAT just got released on DVD and Blu from Severin. THE NIGHT SITTER I found on eBay for pretty cheap.

Honourable mentions to Killer Klowns from Outer Space and the Bleak

Toss up between Invisible Man (2020) & Midsommar for best film I saw for the first time. Think Invisible Man just takes it.

Anyone have a favorite movie they watched for the first time this October? Best first time view was Child's Play remake. Worst first time viewing was either Pledges or Manos Returns.

I don't know what the BEST one I watched for the first time is... But the most memorable is probably FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN, I really liked House of Terrors and a bunch of others as well, but I have a feeling they will be the kind of movies that slowly disappear in my brain thoughts... I have a terrible memory.... The most memorably bad ones would probably be the Vampire City ones, though Werewolf Bitches From Outerspace will be up there as well.

I watched Voodoo Black Exorcist (1974) tonight. Anyone ever see it?
My goodness did it suck ass! The director was Manuel Cano. I watched another movie he made in 1974 earlier this year called The Swamp of the Ravens. I actually thought that movie was the stronger of the Something Weird Video double feature it was in along with The Thirsty Dead. Maybe Cano should have just stuck with directing the one film in 1974.
Oddly enough both movies feature Fernando Sancho playing a very poor man’s Spanish Columbo. In this one he is investigating a series of murders and other odd happenings aboard a cruise ship. The ocean liner also has aboard a mummy who lusts after the reincarnated version of a long dead love. I bet you can guess who is causing the mischief.
This one really sucked to watch. The Swamp of the Ravens really wasn’t this bad so I went into it thinking Voodoo Black Exorcist may even be a little better. Instead it was a fair amount worse.

Alien Dead *DVD* I remember reading about this on badmovies.org twenty years ago. He wasn’t to fond of it. I can’t bland him. The box promised lots of gore and tons of nudity and it had neither. It just had a lot of bad. Like, A LOT. This is one of those with so much bad that it should equal out to good. But it lacked the two important factors that it really needed. It was pretty funny that a few scenes just stopped or faded out mid-line. Or the one skinny dipper standing in waste deep water while a zombie swims under what looks like ten feet of water towards her. Or all the extras constantly looking at the camera. Or the zombie eating a girls severed right hand then when you see another zombie eating her right arm the hand is still attached. Or that there’s a female character named “Shawn Michaels”. Yeah I know this came out ten years before he adopted that name but watching it in 2020 it was really funny. But it has to be the one zombie who keeps feeling up the girls as they’re attacking her. And I’m not saying his hand brushes against her breast; this guy blatantly cops feels on a couple girls. A “1” that had the potential to be a “10” but sadly ended up a “4”.

Big Tits Zombie/Big Tits Dragon *DVD* Probably the tamest Japanese horror movie I’ve seen, not that I’ve seen too many. This one was intended as a joke and it was. Some parts were funny, like the one zombie girl at the end who’s a play off Resident Evil style zombies that split apart and mutate into some far more disgusting. But they made no attempt to hide the strings that are making parts of her “fly”. Ultimately though if you want to watch a zombie movie watch almost any other zombie movie, if you want to watch a Japanese gore fest watch Tokyo Gore Police and if you want to see nudity...you can find better movies with lead Sora Aoi on certain website’s that proboards doesn’t condone.

Killing Spree *DVD* I watch a lot of bad movies but every once and awhile I find a special one like this. It’s not as gory as I’d like but the it’s just weird enough (see the scene where the guy gets “head”), the acting is just bad enough, the extras are just hairy enough and it’s just self-aware enough. Asbestos Felt (what a name) is so good in his role. I’d like to see more of his movies. There’s not many out there. Too bad it wasn’t as violent or gory as I thought it would be, although there are a couple nice nasty bits. Another one that could have been a “10”, but it’s still a 7 or 8.

Bone Sickness *DVD* A low budget zombie splatter film that decides to have a plot and character development? I kid. This was a pretty nice labour of love movie. The director plays a lead role and uses a lot of the same actors in his other movies. He even does his own stunts. I think his mom May cut his hair though. But you know he invested everything he had into making his movies. And it works. For the most part the gore is really good. Some of the zombie makeup is a little too fake though. The girl who plays the wife of the man with the bone sickness (Darya Zabinski) has great boobs. But best of all is the Chief Inspector who wears the same tie in every scene, and I swear it’s a Sonic the Hedgehog tie. If they should have done anything it would have been to age the film and make it look twenty years older than in is. It would have given it a great Fulci look and hidden some of the shortcomings with the effects.

Thankskilling *Amazon Prime* Even though thanksgiving was last month I felt like this festive gem could be watched in November as well. As a comedy horror it’s pretty good. The jokes aren’t too cheesy or played out. The characters are all great caricatures of the stock horror movie troupes. And Turkie. You gotta love Turkie. It’s too bad he never did any other movies. It’s just so stupid that it’s smart.
