For some reason, I thought he was older than that. Actually, I thought he was still in his late 70s when he passed. Still, a truly sad day. Loved his work on the "Pyramid" shows back in the 80s, and I saw them when I was young when USA did it's "Game Show Block" every weekday in the mid 90s. RIP. I remember watching Game Show Network when it first started and that being one of my favorites they played. I also remember the USA Game Show Block as well. Great stuff.

New Years will never be the same again. R.I.P. to a TV legend. True, but to be fair, I think Seacrest is Dick's ideal successor. Idol is synomynous with pop culture in the same vein that Bandstand was, and their public personas are identical. I think Seacrest looks more like him every year actually as well. Also

Can almost guarantee this New Year's Eve will feature a tribute to him. RIP Dick Clark

I'm so sad about this. this is the biggest loss to music since Michael Jackson, and that's not shortchanging anyone.
Dick Clark and Casey Kasem have always been big influences on me, working in radio. I would listen to them introduce songs on their respective countdown shows and tell the stories behind them, and I bring that to what I do every morning when I do my show-because I love the music, and learned from them.
I remember him for so much, for Bandstand, which I'm the first to mention that I think surprisingly. For his countdown show, The National Music Survey,For his work with the WWF during the Rock'n'Wrestling connection. TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes. The $25,000 Pyramid. Heck even Dairy Queen commercials, and of course, New Year's Rockin' Eve.
Thank You Dick, from a fan, an admirer and someone who is proud to be associated with one of several professions that you ruled at and loved. R.I.P.

For some reason, I thought he was older than that. It was hard to tell because the man simply refused to age. Truly a sad day in America.

Anybody else find it interesting that two men with the initials "D.C.", both who were influential in their respective musical cultures, and both men who had shows whose themes were like was like an alarm clock, waking you up from a Saturday morning siesta of cartoons and silliness, both passed away this year?
Don Cornelius & Dick Clark. Both timeless in their day.

I cant say that I ever really watched any countdown to New Years eve shows but I did watch the bloopers episode of The Fresh Prince that he was on a week or so ago where he was a guest star.
