{Spoiler}Popular songs from 1992: Shabba Ranks - Mr. Loverman Right Said Fred - I'm Too Sexy Wreckx-N-Effect - Rump Shaker Sir Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back
As for the 80s, Prince and Madonna say hello. "Sexual harassment," they say? Nope, sounds pretty stupid to me. Much more variety back then than there is now in terms of what is popular. Nowadays it seems its much harder to find a popular song that is clean. Back than maybe a handful of somewhat explict popular songs now its more common. Maybe it was just my household and the people around me (this is a rural area of the south I'm talking about) but I never heard those songs growing up in the '80s and probably none of the '90s stuff until I was a young teenager. I never heard anyone singing them in class, lunch, or recess either.

Lot of jokes here but no one wants to look at it seriously. I see it as society and culture further and further eroding and values and morals are declining. Now everything is more sexualized than it was 20 or 30 or more years ago and I wonder how much worse it will get. It seems there was more balance back than and now everything is sex sex sex. Not a good time to be bringing children into this world if you ask me. So I guess you don't remember Tipper Gore's crusade against explicit music back in the early 90's that created those "Parental Advisory" labels on albums in the first place? Or the furor against artists like 2 Live Crew and Ice T? This "WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!?!?" rallying call by upstanding moral types has been going on since at least Rock n Roll was considered "satanic music" back in the 50's.

An overwhelming majority of the top hundreds of hits on Billboard and iTunes are non-explicit. So I guess if you don't look at all it's a lot harder to find clean songs.

Of the top 5 songs on the Billboard top 100, 1 has been deemed explicit. The other 4 are about as innocent as charting songs can get, really.

Theres always been suggestive if not provocative lyrics in songs. I'll see your "I'm sexy and I know it" and raise you "I touch myself" from 20+ years ago.

Be mad at the school/schoolboard all you want, but if this kid's mother had gotten off her ass and done her job as a parent the first time this issue was brought up, we wouldn't be discussing this.

Exactly. Learning this wasn't a first time or isolated incident has pretty much erased any and all "suspension might've been too harsh" thoughts from my head. This could've been nipped in the bud by the mother and she didn't do a thing. So her child learns the consequences of his repeated actions and the mother learns the consequence of her complete inaction.

A lot of people don't like the idea of someone outside the family physically punishing their child myself included. Plus in my experience all spanking has done is taught my cousin to hit those that wronged her which I am now trying to teach her not to do. Even then, it comes down to the mom being lazy and wanting the school to be the parent. If she had taken action the first time this happened, it wouldn't be an issue. Instead she did nothing and now the school is forcing her to do something rather than taking upon themselves which I like a lot better.

I'm very against corporal punishment by the school.
Personally I'd never do it to my kids. And if I found out the school hit my kid, you bet your ass I'd lawyer up. Hell, even if I believed in spanking my kids I'd be just as pissed off about someone else paddling my child.

Actually if I'm not mistaken a few years ago when my cousin's kids started their school year, a note was sent home asking permission for paddling. You could either accept it or turn it down.

I'll have to ask him for sure, but I'm almost certain that was the case, we both live in Kentucky, though different parts

I got my ass busted as a kid and I didn't turn out violent. Of course, I wasn't just grabbed up and busted and sent on my way. It was made clear what I had done wrong and why I shouldn't do it. I have no problem with it, as long as it doesn't go overboard.
