I feel bad for Fitch. 15-3-1 career in the UFC and is now released. Just goes to show how much the UFC is disinterested in point fighters. I would be treading very carefully, Clay Guida. Guida is still a draw despite recent fights. His fights against Benderson, Guida, and some others have ensured him a bit of security. But Fitch, despite a great fight against Silva, had way too much bad DanaKarma to hope for employment after Maia made him look like Dan Hardy.

An absolute embarrassment that the UFC would cut lose Fitch so unceremoniously. Downright pathetic. But Fitch, despite a great fight against Silva, had way too much bad DanaKarma to hope for employment after Maia made him look like Dan Hardy. Dan Hardy, however, can continue to look like Dan Hardy cause Dana likes him and his crazy mohawk.

Don't forget Leonard Garcia. UFC just cut a guy on a four fight losing streak and keep a guy who is currently on a four fight losing streak.

Dana White explained the cutting of Jon Fitch as such: Yeah, he's on the downside of his career. I mean, he's only the 9th best Welterweight in the entire freaking world and not the 2nd! I mean, psssh. He lost two of his last four, one against a guy people feel is a the realest contender to GSP in years and another against a man with bonafide insane BJJ who came from another weight class. He drawed against BJ Penn albeit, arguably so in the eyes of many who thought he'd actually won. Oh...and actually he won some fight, big whoop. Now...with this obviously faltering man who is just clinging to reputation as his abilities disappear out of the way, we can do more important things...like prepare for the next BJ Penn fight. Ready for Dan Hardy to co-main event another UK show?! Yeah! ...Anyway, can we stop acting like UFC is a sport when it's obviously just a physical spectacle with no real infrastructure to be considered credible? You'll have cream rise to the top, but at the end of the day, it's just whoever is "cool" or "exciting" and not really "skilled" who gets title shots. You don't earn shots by beating elite competition, you earn it by talking crap after losing in another division.

That last paragraph explained my biggest problem I have with the UFC better than I ever could myself. How can Dana White sit there and say he's doing things based on "the sport" when he cuts one guy who's in the top 10 in his division in the world after losing 4 but others who aren't even NEAR the top 10 in their divisions are kept around after losing 4 simply because Dana loves the way they fight? BTW, Dana, not everyone agrees with the Green Bay Packers cutting Charles Woodson either. Bad example.

Good to know officially that Dana thinks his company's rankings are worthless.

The thing is, is it Dana saying this himself or is this Dana saying this because the Fertitta have their hands up his ass and are making him say it whether he agrees to or not?
We need to be careful about that because at the end of the day, it's their company and what they say goes. Dana and Joe Silva may have some power to do what they feel is necessarily in the UFC but Zuffa(and therefore, the Fertitta brothers) have the final say and what happens in the companies that operate under their umbrella.
I question whether or not the UFC will ever get the mainstream respect as a legitimate sport so long as those who run it continue to treat it the way they do.

I get being upset when they do something dumb, but don't burn the entire bridge for it.

Interesting development as far as UFC in the UK goes - BT have purchased ESPN's TV channels business in the UK and Ireland, but there's no mention in the press release of the UFC. It's well known that Dana and the Fertittas were meeting last week in London about a new TV deal, and Dana's been rumoured to be shopping hard for Sky Sports to pick them up. However, given the money Sky have paid lately for more expensive Premier League and Formula One rights, I've got a feeling they won't want to take a chance on the UFC, leaving Dana stuck with BT.
He must hate having to jump around every time the channel they're on loses Premier League rights, shows just how powerful those are.

That's what they had to do to get Aldo to take the Pettis fight? Geez. Way to assert your dominance, Dana.

And if he wins that fight, he gets to fight the two lower classes champions in a gauntlet match, then Ronda in a Judo match, and the winner gets a jetpack!

I wonder if Mills is gonna be brought back since they brought back Brandon Vera after Thiago Silva failed a drug test, unless it's a different situation since one involves pot and the other involved a PED and a fake penis.
