Say what you want about him and Ace being the screwups of the band, but He was a pretty damn good drummer.... and He survived Breast Cancer.

I'm not so sure about Criss, but Ace Frehley is a WAY better guitarist than he's given credit for. He was a better guitar guy than KISS honestly deserved. That said, I'm still a fan of the band as a whole.

He used to be a beastly drummer in the 70's, and then they reunited and he started phoning it in something heavy (IMO). Plus, he always comes across as a bitter asshole in recent interviews. Ace may be bitter too, but at least he talks about his own career and shit. All Peter does is talk shit about Paul and Gene, and maybe it is justified, but it's the only topic he talks about. Maybe it's because Paul, Gene, and Ace all have careers to talk about - while Peter really doesn't.

He made "Beth", which is the only KISS song I enjoy.

In fairness, When they reunited he was in his 50's, and had bouts of tendonitis and Burstitis so he wasn't gonna be as good as he was in the 70's. I also wish he would stop bringing up Gene and Paul in interviews, He needs to get over it.

Peter was an amazing drummer 30 or 40 years back. You can tell by his style that he's a big jazz fan; I believe he even mentioned Gene Krupa in an interview once. It's a shame he can't go like he used to, but the guy's in his late 60s now, so you have to cut him a break.
I think Peter's lack of success in comparison to his fears has a lot to do with his time in KISS, ironically. Like I said, he's a really big jazz fan, and enjoys writing a lot of soft, schmaltzy jazz-influenced ballads. And that style is about as far removed from KISS' fanbase as you can possibly get. That's why his first post-KISS solo album sold so poorly. Fans expected a rough and tough hard rock album in the vein of his old band, and when they got what I described above, his career never really recovered. A shame, really - he's a pretty talented dude.
