That signed pic of Demolition looks like Barry Darsow to me.

I'm still not sure about the promo photo. I think I saw a youtube of Darsow with that type of paint pattern, the lighter b&w part is red and the darker black. It does look like Smash has a Darsow mustache though but I think the face looks a lot fatter and older than Darsow's. The worst part is his arm is we can't see the tattoo. I know fans have Matt Borne sign face Doink items so it's possible they had Colley sign the photo and he didn't mention it wasn't him, or it was him, or he signed it because he did play Smash. I liked the Shadows. I don't think they ever won matches but they were treated as a little better than regular jobbers. They would get mentioned sometimes on the Mean Gene promos for upcoming house shows like the Rougeaus v. Shadows. If Bolsheviks hadn't teams by Survivor Series maybe the Shadows would have made it to the 10 man team match as the Conquistadors but with different results, probably eliminated early on. I wonder if the Conquistadors at Survivor Series 88 factored in with the ending from the very begining or if they were just the above jobber status to round out the final heel team but had no storyline for the ending.

I was just reading the Observer from early December of 1988 and the story that Meltzer presents is the Conquistadors being in the end of the match was used as a plot to keep Dynamite Kid from f***ing up either of the Rougeaus in the match. it kinda went like this: 1) Vince tells all 4 that if anything goes down in the ring none of them will be paid. 2) He then mentions to Dynamite that the Rougeaus are going to be the last team left on the heel side so Dynamite knew he couldn't really do anything or it would screw the match up. 3) Instead, the Rougeaus are the first team eliminated 4) The Bulldogs are kept in the match as one of the remaining 2 babyface teams so the Rougeaus had enough time to change, pack their shit and leave so there wasn't a backstage altercation.

"Original Smash" kind of sounds like a soft drink. You know, to go along with Diet Smash and Grape Smash.
