In the wrestling business, there are so many opinions and newz out there, that it's so hard to sort between the facts and the bs. You have guys who have worked in the business like Cornette, New Jack, Honkey Tonk Man and others who readily throw their opinions out there for public consumption. With the popularity of shoot interviews over the last 15 years, many wrestlers tell their sides of their story and express their opinions about many of their co-workers, writers, bookers and owners. You also have legends like Flair, Hogan & Bret among others who tell their stories through autobiographies.
Some stories are taken as gospel, while others sound too good to be true, while stories about past disagreements often always conflict. Some guys are "outspoken", while others seem to just spew crap and nonsense, all of which needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
Who do you usually seem to believe when they have an opinion/story/rant? Who do you usually tend not to believe?

Whoever says that, that's who I believe.

When I read the same story told by two or three guys in books or dvd/interviews ect. I surmise it has truth in it. Everyone's version is different usually but that just means the truth is somewhere in between. Once there was a thread in the WC forums called "Hogan lies best". It was funny as hell and based on some pretty outrageous suggestions he has made over the yrs. Most were claimed differently by others so I tend not to believe most of what he claims now.

Not Hogan or Bret Hart, that's for sure. Or Flair. Wrestling is full of bullshitters and truth stretchers. It's the nature of the business.

I'm more likely to believe the Marc Meros and those that have been supposedly blacklisted by the wrestling business than anyone in it.
I tend to believe the worst about the wrestling business, and I'm often correct.

The last time I trusted a wrestler, he led me into a room full of snakes, and a cobra bit me. The last thing I remember is collapsing and seeing a fat guy and a tall man in black.

Not Hogan or Bret Hart, that's for sure. What did Bret say that made you doubt him? I've always thought of him as one of the more honest wrestlers. Those I usually believe are: Bret Hart, Mick Foley, and Lance Storm. I don't believe: Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, and especially Hulk Hogan.

Lance Storm would probably win the poll. I would ask Lance and expect to get a coherent answer that isn't layered with a lot of bull.
The rest all have their layers of crap.

I don't believe anybody 100%. Those who are still in WWE's good graces have a motive to bend the truth to secure their legacy. Those who are not have a motive to bend the truth in order to stay relevant. Those who did drugs may not remember correctly, and those who hold grudges may have repeated a biased/bitter version of events to themselves so many times that it looks like truth.
That doesn't mean that I think all of these people are outright liars or villains. It's just that I don't think anyone, but wrestlers particularly due to the blurring of the real/fake line in their lives, remembers everything objectively.

I've always looked at a wrestling book to see whether it has the "W" on the back. I know that typically means that the WWE editors have had their noses in the book. However, does independence = objectivity? No it absolutely does not.
I think that when it comes to believing someone in wrestling you got to take it one at a time. Consider the particular incident and the players involved and their involvement. Try to get the recollections of as many people involved as possible to form an opinion.
I don't remember if Santana's biography was produced by WWE. He's always someone I thought would be able to give a fairly objective look at the wrestling industry. He didn't seem to be involved in any incidents backstage and I'm not sure he has bones to pick with too many people.

Here's the thing, Hart's pretty honest about his personal life-but as far as him talking about his wrestling exploits, there's only so many times you can read "I wrestled X in the best match of his career" and "I was willing to job to anybody, because I'm so magnanimous" before you start to realize he's the biggest mark for himself.

Scott Hall called him the the 400 grand a year champion. Ha ha that says it all. He was and is such a mark for himself that it's hard to take everything he says as truthful and objective.

Yeah, that's true. I don't hold it against him all that much though-it's hardly like he's the only guy in the biz with that kind of view of himself. My problems with Hart tend more towards the fact that I just find him boring, not whether or not he's actually a likable person.
