So, pardon my ignorance on this matter, but what exactly lead to Bruno completely divorcing himself from Vince McMahon and the WWF? Thanks!

I know one big issue was over the fact that Vince only gave David Sammartino a job in order to get more matches out of Bruno, and then he dumped David. Apparently this is a big reason why Bruno and David had a strained relationship. Also Bruno hated and still talks about hating the Attitude Era, which he thinks ruined the image of wrestling.

The fact that Vince wouldn't push his no talented son is the basis of it.

He did hate the attitude era but he also hated the Hogan era as well.

Plus Bruno didn't approve of wrestlers using steroids and during the Hulkamania era, it was harder to finding the wrestler who wasn't juicing up.

It seems to be a multitude of factors:
-Bruno's respect for Vince Sr. and the territory system, and his dissatisfaction with Vince Jr.'s national movement killing it off and going against his father's wishes.
-His dislike of the Attitude Era and the sex and swearing associated with it.
-His dislike of the overly cartoony characters from the 80's and early 90's.
-Vince not pushing David after signing him (though Bruno has since disowned David, so that may not be a major reason anymore)
-The steroid use in the WWF, and saying Vince looked the other way at best and encouraged it at worst.

Bruno certainly had no problems making money with Billy Graham (and he's said he knew Graham and others were on steroids at the time), or getting a paycheck as an announcer during the Hulkamania era.
I think he's just a bitter old man that is so attached to that bitterness now he couldn't imagine living without it. Which is too bad.

Bruno lasted into early 1988 did he not? If so, he certainly stuck around well into the National Expansion. I don't think he could've possibly been that stupid to have realized what Vince had did. Also, didn't his son David last in the WWF only until 1986?

Bruno's just a bitter asshole. And I find it highly unlikely that he didn't use steroids himself, considering how sickly he was in his early life.
