The Poughkeepsie Journal is reporting that two New York independent wrestlers, Rob Begley and Dale Chapman, will be receiving tryout matches this Friday night prior to a TNA Impact Wrestling house show event in Poughkeepsie, NY:
Arlington High School graduates Rob Begley and Dale Chapman have a great opportunity to gain further exposure in their professional wrestling careers on Friday.
Begley, better known to wrestling fans as Vik Dalishus, will face Chapman, also known as Hale Collins, at the Impact Wrestling World Tour at Mid-Hudson Civic Center, which starts at 7:30 p.m. The match will serve as a tryout with Total Nonstop Action, the company that puts on the tour and second biggest wrestling company in the United States. Their weekly television show runs on Spike TV and also worldwide.
The first Dalishus vs. Collins match occurred on Northeast Wrestling’s Autumn Ambush show on Oct. 1. Civic Center president Paul Lloyd suggested to TNA officials that adding the local wrestlers to the event would be positive for the fans and the company.
“(Paul) was one of the only guys that gave us a lot of credit for getting people to the Northeast Wrestling show and getting people in the door,” Chapman said. “We do a lot of legwork, and it was cool that he took notice of our hard work and appreciated that.”
Begley has had televised and non-televised matches for WWE in the past, and he and his former tag team partner were in constant contact with TNA for years, trying to get a look from the company. Now, they’ve got it.
“This is the Mid-Hudson Civic Center,” Begley said. “They’re coming to our place and they want to see what we’re made of. That’s the way I’ll take the challenge. They want to see what our brand of wrestling is like up here and we’re going to show them.
“If I’ve ever been on my game to go out and kick (butt), this is going to be it. I don’t think the things I did with WWE were my best shot. I am going to give it my best shot and if I have to walk away, I will walk away with no regrets.”
