Does anyone else play these games? I played the first one, and while it's not very good, it still is rather fun. LoW 2 improved immensely in my view, and it's cool that everyone gets full themes instead of twenty second themes or so. I've never played Showdown, so I have no real opinion on that game.
Anyone else ever play these?

I'm one of the few people who enjoyed Showdown but it was definitely rushed. The best thing they had going for them was their awesome rosters

Showdown's roster with LOW2's graphics would have been amazing

Of the LoW games, I've only actually played LoW2. It was a very, very flawed game, but through all of the flaws, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. It had the unfortunate dial-a-combo syndrome that Acclaim's previous wrestling games suffered from, but the chain wrestling system was EXTREMELY interesting and was quite a bit of fun. And the rosters were indeed quite awesome.
In general, I probably wouldn't recommend the game to many people, but I have quite a few fond memories of it from the few times I rented it.

My LOW2 game kept freezing up whenever I tried to face Bob Backlund in the Northeast territory.

My LOW2 game kept freezing up whenever I tried to face Bob Backlund in the Northeast territory. Yeah, it took me a while to get into the game because for the longest time I just couldn't get used to the weird control system. Eventually I got the hang of it well enough to win some matches and have fun playing the game, so I tried to do a season or whatever and it started freezing up one me. That game is such a dick tease. With the roster it has it should be the best wrestling game ever but they f***ed it up.

phenominal rosters but shitty gameplay. the concept of their season/career mode with the territories was an awesome concept but the rediculosness of the controls made it a bitch to play.

Showdown IMO had the best roster in wrestling game history. But it was so rushed and full of glitches. They had some amazing looking arena in that game. If they took the time on the in ring stuff it was been awesome. Between that and un realistic movesets and a weak CAL. The game could been the game too beat.

I enjoyed the idea of touring the territories the thing I HATED though was (LoW2) all the little things you had to do in a match to get over in order to move up the card.

I liked the rosters and how you could wrestle in a basketball gym or in an arena. Added some realism to a wrestling game that we don't often see.

I owned LoW 2, and I could not even beat it with anyone. Like Warzone, it just got incredibly annoying with how impossible it was to come back from getting knocked around a bit. If you don't control the match at all times, you're screwed. I would beat on a guy for several minutes and out of nowhere he'd come back and beat me in less than a minute...and no it wasn't Hogan. It was extremely frustrating about how buggy everything was. I was never able to unlock Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith or Sammartino. Really pissed me off.

I really enjoyed playing all three of them. Sure, they weren't perfect, and they glitched at times, but I found them all very fun.

I enjoyed them, but haven't played ANY games at all in a really long time. I just wish that wrestlers could only do their own moves and gameplay was more like the SVR series.

I went into those games with high expectations considering the rosters they had, ultimately I left disappointed.

I only played the 2nd one, but I liked it a lot. The things with the controls is that they were absurdly complex, much moreso than any other wrestling game before or since. I gave up on it after a week, but kept reading reviews at the time that said to stick with it because once you master the controls, the game is a lot of fun.
So, I got back in the saddle and ONLY played this game for a month or two until I got the hang of the controls. I wouldn't call them bad because, while there's a lot of nuance, the controls ARE very responsive, accurate, and you aren't making any weird Primal Rage-style diagonal button smashes with them.
The video vignettes were fun too. I loved how Jim Duggan's looks like he just put up a tripod and ranted for hours, hoping the game-makers would edit it into something remotely coherent.

Played all three and each one got worse I think. I liked the simplicity of the first one, the decent roster and arenas. The second was better in a lot of ways with an improved roster but I remember not liking the career mode as much. The third was just disappointing to me. With the best roster of the series I thought it was gonna be fantastic but the career mode was boring, the controls and overall gameplay felt even more unresponsive and the graphics were too cartoony.
