I keep going to the wrong open-wheel forums. I swear the hardcore CART fans that still call the IRL "The Dark Side" won't be satisfied until Tony George is symbolically crucified and EVERYTHING is reverted to Champ Car as it would have been in 2007, except with the drivers of 1997 magically de-aged and restored instead of all the "gomers" of today.
Because the Panoz DP01 is totally the answer to everything, safety accommodations and improvements be damned.

Trackforum gets bad but its nowhere near that bad. Also Pocono is officially back on the schedule! Finally! I'm so there!

USAToday lists this as the tentative 2013 Indycar Schedule: With maybe Rhode Island being added as a street course. Sounds good, though I still wish we could get some classic CART tracks back like Surfer's Paradise or Cleveland, though if I had to guess it looks like they're shooting for just one big overseas trip each season. Official schedule is: March 24 - Streets of St. Petersburg (Street) April 7 - Barber Motorsports Park (Road) April 21 - Streets of Long Beach (Street) May 5 - Streets of Sao Paulo (Street) May 26 - Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Oval) June 1 - Streets of Belle Isle (Street) June 2 - Streets of Belle Isle (Street) June 8 - Texas Motor Speedway (Oval) June 15 - The Milwaukee Mile (Oval) June 22 - Iowa Speedway (Oval) July 7 - Pocono Raceway (Oval) July 13 - Streets of Toronto (Street) July 14 - Streets of Toronto (Street) August 4 - Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (Road) August 25 - Raceway at Sonoma (Road) September 1 - Streets of Baltimore (Street) October 5 - Reliant Park (Street) October 6 - Reliant Park (Street) October 19 - Auto Club Speedway (Oval) - Three double-header races - 400 mile race at Pocono, 500 miles at Indianapolis and ACS - Triple Crown with a $1 million bonus for winning those three oval races, $250,000 for winning two of the three There are some awful gaps in the schedule, especially late in the year, and I'd like to see more road courses and ovals, but beyond that I rather like the schedule. Depending on how they handle qualifying for the double races they could be really entertaining, and having them at street courses is a good idea given the greater casual and non-race fan potential.

Well, Parity in Pro Stock Motorcycle is officially dead. And soon, I think the class will be dead as well.

Overall I like the schedule and that the Triple Crown is back but I wish that big gap in September was filled.

Paul McMahan, new driver of the CJB Motorsports #51 (replacing Fred Rahmer) won Night 1 of the Williams Grove Morgan Hughes National Open (sanctioned by the World of Outlaws).
Night 2, unfortunately, was won by Donny Schatz (Tony Stewart Racing #15). Brian Leppo (CJB Motorsports #51B, and also my favorite 410 Sprint driver, ever) Had a couple shots to get him on the final restart, and almost Took it away for the home Pennsylvania contingent.
If Leppo hasn't proved with that run that he deserves a full-time ride for 2013 (PA Only, mind you. He's already stated he doesn't want to join the World of Outlaws because it's too much time away from his kids), I don't know what he has to do to convince a quality owner to open a seat up for him.

For the US posters in this thread, is the Bathurst 1000 (on this coming weekend) going out live on SPEED again like it was last year?

There's no real news on it on the SPEED website.

I have an excuse to root for McLaren now. I'll feel dirty doing it, but Sergio is too awesome not to root for. Atta boy Checo.

Rumor is SPEED will be killed off soon (most likely in Jan) and replaced by FOX Sports One with far less focus on auto racing.

What I don't get, and this is part of a more endemic problem, is why, when we have more channels than we ever have had, the more specialized, specific channels keep getting homogenized into the same frameset of channels we had when we had 20 channels.
