No more Nationwide race in Montreal because the promoter wanted a Cup race. I wish NASCAR would have gave that to them. Cup could use another good road course.

The new promoter just wanted a Sunday race and when NASCAR said there was no way they'd get a Cup race he demanded they move the Nationwide race to 9a on Sunday or would break their agreement and NASCAR called his bluff. Early talk is Mid Ohio getting the spot. Quite frankly the racing was good but the fact that the JacquesAss always lived up to that name because of his father's name being on it made him feeling entitled to being given the win, I am glad it's gone.

Well looks like Kurts gonna get fined. James Harrison was fined $10,000 for Kurt Busch's actions. Yep, I'm crossing over NFL and NASCAR.

How Smoke survived that...wow. Every hit on the driver's side, then landing on the DS and being drug/pushed for at least 1/4 mile. Jesus.
And he not only walks away but jokes about it afterward. Amazing.

Amazing. Pretty sure twelve years ago, he wouldn't have survived that. Thank God for all the safety advancements since that black day in February of 2001.

Gordon moves up 4 spots while Junior falls that many down. 4th to 11th is separated by just 20 points at this time. Next week will be the first 1.5 mile track in the Chase, which from here on will constitute as most of the remaining races.

For those that care, Sebastian Vettel won the Japanese GP to get within 4 points of Fernando Alonso after Alonso was the passenger in another turn 1 crash.
Felipe Massa finished 2nd to get his first podium since Korea in 2010. Kamui Kobayashi finished 3rd for his first podium, and only the third Japanese driver ever to finish in the top 3.

I don't follow F-1 as well as I would like, but didn't Alonso have a pretty big points lead not too long ago?

I don't follow F-1 as well as I would like, but didn't Alonso have a pretty big points lead not too long ago? I wouldn't say it was big, but he was just consistently picking up decent points while others behind him were less consistent (for example, Hamilton, Webber and Button have all won 2 races this season, yet all three are behind Raikkonen in the standings (who has yet to win all season) because of retirements and poor finishes scattered through the year).

Bass Pro Shops will become primary sponsor of Tony Stewart's #14 car for 18 races next season(Bass Pro Shops could still sponsor Jamie McMurray's car in some capacity next season)

That race was pretty damn fun, but was greatly devalued because of Vettel's victory. I mean, yeah, I can appreciate that it was the most dominant weekend all year long for one driver. with Vettel winning two races in a row, however, it just makes me nervous that we're going to end up with Seb winning the World Championship again. As far as Alonso goes, these past 3 races dating back to Spa are just the worst part of the season for him coming at the worst possible time. With that said though, I hope Kimi comes out of no where, wins a race or two coming down the stretch here and steal the WC.

But the podium finishes for Massa and Kobayashi are what made the race for me personally.

So NASCAR is redoing qualifying next year and eliminating the top 35 rule, and pretty much going back to how they were doing it before. Top 36 in by speed, the rest by provisionals, one past champion's provisional. That's pretty much how it was almost verbatim.
