Get 06 or HCTP, IMO. Also, just wondering exactly what they put in place of Punk's Cobra Corps and Pepsi Tattoos? I've never managed to get a decent look at them. The Pepsi logo looks like it's on it's turned so the red half is on the left and the blue is on the right. Cobra looks like it might just be wavy lines in a vague shape of the Cobra Command logo

What's the big thing over SvR 2006? I see people referencing that one as being great all the time. The gameplay was pretty trash in that pinning moves never pinned anyone, and you couldn't hit a top rope move to save your life. I honeslty believe the only reason it gets so much love is because it followed the absolutely dire SvR 1. Say what you will about the season modes in the more recent games. But the game play is definitely improved from how it was back then.

THANK YOU!!! The graphics look slightly improved, and the crowd is finally looking a little less like zombies.

If I were to revisit an older SVR, it would be 2007. The GM mode is the best in '07 and the roster is stacked. The gameplay is also leaps and bounds improved over '06 and '08.

The matches just seemed to have a better flow to them for me and they nearly always felt like they built to a decent finish, general manager mode was introduced and I found that really addictive. I played 06 till 07 was released, I played 07 for about 2 months and that continued till WWE 12 which I still play every now and then. The biggest flaw with 06 was the roster.

I'm most looking forward to seeing what kind of hijinks New Legacy Inc will get into with this year's installment. A proper full Dickwhale Arena, to be sure. As for me, I play HCTP almost daily. Right now I'm trying to create tag teams for everyone on the roster. Now, should I keep Austin as a singles guy and pair up DX, or pair up Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty and form the Two Man Power Trip?

Yeah, inability to hit moves off the top rope aside, matches could really "flow" in 06. Some of the best matches I've ever had in any wrestling game were on 06.

I also say 07 was the best great roster, fun story mode, GM (which I hope they bring back), and if I remember correctly create a title.

Why did they ever get rid of GM?
It was my favourite feature.

I miss the challenges and season mode from SvR '07.
Customizing your own locker room and earning trophies added some extra replay value for me.

You guys are also forgetting, SvR07 had the best soundtrack in the entire series. Who could forget all of the classics by Bumpy Knuckles?
Also, wasn't SvR07 the one where, if you had all CAW matches, the crowd would shout out BOOOOOORING at some point in the match?

I think I have a bit of a nostalgia filter on for 06, and as for reasons why, let's look at the entire main series history:
Sd1: Clearly unfinished.
KYR: Not bad but needs work (also, is a finished version of above)
JBI: Fairly obvious Christmas-Rush game, cut and paste commentary, barely any season mode.
SYM: Much better, seeing as they seemed to have gotten used to the PS2 by this point.
HCTP: Series high-point, in terms of variety. I'm still finding new things when I play this game.
SVR (05): Basically HCTP if you took out the variety, and added in some better graphics. Also, badbadbad season mode with obvious railroading all the way through.
SVR06: Again, finished version of the above.
SVR07: Looping Season mode, blatant inaccessibility of moves and created parts still on the disc, and lack of innovation.
SVR08: Boring Season mode with nonsensical choice to make your character hate ECW, even when you're screaming "but why?" at the screen. Other lowlights include HHH being Sharmell's lackey just because he's the King of Kings, John Cena being AAEstrada's lackey as a clear substitute for.... some powerhouse that got released (help me out here, I have no idea).... and MVP appearing as "a technical master" while not talking, in a spot obviously designed for Chris Benoit.
SVR09: Yay! we can create finishers! wait, what do you mean we can only do front finishers? Yay! we have a tag season mode! wait, what do you mean it's Batista and Mysterio? etc....
SVR10 and 11: Not much happened here, pretty much the same game as above.
WWE12: The good news, there's an overhaul. The bad news? we have to stare at Orton's mug every time we open the game. Also, would love the season mode if I hadn't spent half of it doing the exact same backstage brawl.

Don't forget how 2008 had that option to surrender the title just before Mania that 90% of the time forced you to do it even if you chose not to. Also 2008's GM Mode was by far the easiest of them because in no time you could build up the entire roster to max popularity on off-days. Though at least while ECW was still the best way to win due to having the last PPV, it wasn't as much of a guaranteed thing as with SmackDown in the other two games.

I enjoyed SvR07 and SvR10 a lot, skipped the two in the middle and kinda lucked out there as 08 and 09 are the ones I've often heard the most cricitism of.
Have heard some bad things about the last two as well, I'm just really keeping my fingers crossed on '13. So long as it's better than SvR10, please.

I think i'm in a minority but I hated HCTP's season mode, overrated nonsense. I tend to just get the same crap storylines. Either that or I was doing something wrong.
SYM however, was amazing, my favourite game in the entire series.

I enjoyed '06 and '09 most out of the SvR series... Such strong rosters in those games.

The thing I'm most excited about is having people to play with. I normally play these games alone because I loathe online...but since I've come out from the shadows of lurking I feel like I could add some of you guys
