Anyone else here have it?

Was diagnosed with it about 10 years ago. I prefer not to make a big deal about it

I was diagnosed when I was 15 and before that I had never herd of it.
Though I do find it amusing how years later how it now seems like everyone on the internet claims or thinks they have it.

Yes, I was diagnosed at 17, I'm now nearly 23 and I consider myself cured. I agree with Wolf. It's funny. And annoying.

Diagnosed at age 14.
Basically, it's a social thing. Very awkward at times with conversations, can obsess with one thing too long, may not be able to handle disappoint well, anxiety, etc...

Diagnosed at age 14. Basically, it's a social thing. Very awkward at times with conversations, can obsess with one thing too long, may not be able to handle disappoint well, anxiety, etc... So basically, life. I understand that there are people out there with mental disabilities. I myself have been diagnosed with a few of my own. But through my own experiences I've learned almost everybody has some form of mental disability based on what was once known as simply being socially awkward and weird. When it comes to me, I found once I was officially diagnosed with what I have, I found it much easier to cope with it once I learned why I was feeling the way I was feeling. It's been almost a year since I've stopped taking medication and to be honest. I feel great. The medication ended up changing my personality and left me depressed all the time. Once I decided to stop letting my mental health run my life and took matters into my own hands, things have been looking up. I refuse to let my diagnosis be a crutch. Now I have bad days from time to time. But so does everyone else. I'm grew sick of having excuses for acting the way I was. It's life, people have good days and bad days, people have things they regret saying, people have topics that disappoint them easier than others. It's called life. I don't want to be treated any different than anyone so I'm not going to let the same things get to me like they once did. But I also understand it's not something you can just "get over" it's hard, it takes work. I'm constantly having to think about what I'm saying or doing before I say or do it. Sometimes I even get mega pissed and feel like giving up. But then I heard a lyric by Aerosmith "If you do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got" and that really hit home to me.

Great post honestly.I find diagnoses like Aspargers,BS. And the medications basically a personality changer. Maybe i'm just crazy but i do not think it's a sydrome.Or that if is,most people diagnose with it,probaly don't have,it is just their different personalities

Working in an after school program for developmentally challenged children I can tell you that there are indeed serious cases. However, We're living in a world of social media where people's need of validation and acceptance from peers is on a high rise because people are conversing with others in a much higher quantity than the generations before us. All that means is with a higher number of people who are being spoken with, the odds of someone disagreeing with you is higher. When before everyone just had their own small circle of friends that were formed based on common interests. And if someone disagreed with you it was much easier to shut them out.

Everything, its kinda the fish in the barrel of social disorders. That is one of the reasons it just BS. Hell, they don't have `physical` ,or lets say medical way of diagnosing it.It is basically `Oh you have these psycologic traits? You have a mental disorder`

I could give more examples. But basically was a 16 year old with the mind of a baby and the body of an adult. Yes, there are extreme cases. It's not all B.S Ever watch Rain Man? He had Aspergers. But then again so did Einstein. It's not a black and white disorder.

The Aspegers you said, and the ones they are diagnosed with, are completely different.

I had some students that if they could even figure out how to turn on a computer, let alone go on the Internet and carry on a conversation. I would throw a parade. Some people are just looking for excuses to justify when they make a social mistake. Think of the pharmaceutical industry as a company. What is their number 1 outport? Medicine. They want to push that medicine, they want you to take that medicine. They even have medicine that causes side effects that require more medicine. Doctors are the salesman and clients are the customers.
