I know he'll most likely never turn, but if he did, do you think he could pull off bein a heel effectively?

His character is already heelish. Just need to turn up the volume a whole lot.

He's been occasionally playing a heel to half the audience since 2006, and during that time has demonstrated an ability to get under people's skin and piss them off.

Yep, just ramp up his currently annoying qualities by 10 and he would be one of the biggest heels in wrestling history.

I don't know, whenever Cena 'snaps', he does things that if anybody else did them, would be a heel turn (when he went off on Swagger for no reason, when he went off on Del Rio, whacking Punk with a pipe), regardless of the fact that they were done to other heels.
He's just about gone Full Hogan (or possibly even Beyond Hogan) with his temper tantrums.

Yes. I think Cena could be effective as a douche. We saw some glimpses of this with his feud with The Rock. I think it's part of Cena's real life personality that comes out from time to time. Cena could play this up and work it into a heel character. I guess it's part of what made him a pretty good heel earlier in his career.

He did play an excellent heel back when he was Word Life Thuganomics Cena.
The guy is an excellent entertainer, and given the opportunity, he could easily be one of the best heels of the PG era. He's so jacked, so decorated and so powerful that they could turn him into a monster. They wouldn't need to either make him a whiner or a SRS character like they seem to do to all the ones they turn heel nowadays.
He could be Lesnar 2.0

Why not? He pulled it off well enough in 2003. I like Cena, since he's one of the guys who got me back into wrestling, but his act is beyond stale.

Yeah watch his RVD match. Cena can be a very good heel. He really doesn't even have to change much. Just up the taunts, and cockiness. Cena's already been a dick for who knows how long.
Really though it could be an nWo type situation where even as a heel he sells merchandise. they could have done this easily with Nexus. their merchandise was already doing decent.
