Damn, people today have no patience. If you're not a main eventer in 3 months, you're a bust. There's a number of people who were declared citizens of Future Endeavorsville who wind up becoming success stories. He may become a superstar, he may not. But people want to be the first one to brag they knew that person was a dud. I don’t recall anyone ever saying that Cesaro couldn’t be anything in the future. But since we can’t tell the future, the present is all anyone can go on, and in the present Cesaro just hasn’t brought much to the table. That could always change, obviously, but since there's no indication that it will or it won't, why should I even consider it right now? Because this guy was in the same boat when he got to WWE.

I think Cesaro is great. He's young and new to WWE so give him some time. I think he could be something someday.

His gimmick isn't partuicuarly amazing or anything but the guy has shown me enough in the last few months to make me think WWE has big plans for him. Just needs to find the right feud and gimic to get himself over.

For every Daniel Bryan, there's also someone who started mediocre and ended that way. For every Daniel Bryan, there are 2 Sin Caras. And for every Daniel Bryan is 3 Scotty Goldmans. Point being greatness doesn't happen overnight. I'm willing to give someone time instead of giving up the ghost the first chance I get.

But greatness isn't a guarantee or even something that most people get. So I don't see the point in excusing mediocracy now for a small chance that he'll achieve greatness later on.
And if he does improve in the future? Then excellent. Doesn't change how dull he is in the present, though.

I'd say Bryan had a much better start, right from the start he had a chance to get a charachter over through interaction with The Miz and show his wrestling ability against Jericho. There's a lot memorable or at least notable about his pre and immediate post-firing runs. Cesaro hasn't shown nearly as much in a similar time frame, I'd argue he hasn't been given the same opportunities but I don't think he's really taken the ones he's been given either.

Lifting up Brodus for his finishing move aside, I think it's safe to say Cesaro's run with WWE so far has been pretty damn awful. They paired him up/split him from Aksana for no reason and with no pay-off or build up at all. Add to the fact he gets no crowd reaction, his "5 languages" gimmick got boring after the first time and.. well, yeah. Cesaro sucks. Disagree completely

That makes me infer that it means isn't any good now and doesn't show value going forward. That's what people are disagreeing with. Has he even had a match over 5 minutes on TV yet? He's wrestled Brodus Clay, Santino Marella, had a good short match with Christian, squashed Tyson Kidd a couple of times? How can one say he flat out sucks? I'm not saying you're saying that, but that's what the thread is about. That's just being impatient, and negative.

I agree. The evil foreigner gimmick is pretty lame, maybe would be better if he did more than show "Education!"
And his finisher, while allowing for large pickups, is not very impressive.

He needs to win all his matches with a schoolboy pin, feet on the ropes. Call it the Swiss Roll-Up.

"Say a word in multiple languages" doesnt really scream heatseeker.
He is as good in the ring as he is European. He just needs a better feud/gimmick.

I think his run has been just fine so far. He has a character, a title run, feuds and alliances, it feels like he matters, and he's never looked bad. I know he hasn't been made to look super incredible, but it's rare for a rookie that's not a big guy get a mega push out of the gate. I think people that follow ROH (I don't) have high expectations for the former Claudio Castignoli, but he's looked pretty darn good to me.

I'm willing to give someone time instead of giving up the ghost the first chance I get. So am I. But that doesn't mean I don't think he sucks NOW. It's not like I've written him off forever. I wasn't really into Sheamus until he challenged Mark Henry and now he's one of my favorites. I get what you're saying, just wanted to explain myself even though your post wasn't a reply to me.
