I literally just posted about this over in Ask a Mod. Are we back to the nightly backups again?

You know, when I think of "a few minutes", I expect 10, maybe 15 minutes. 20 if I'm generous.
170 is taking the piss.

Do we really need backups of the god damn archives every night?

I thought we had smoothed things out with Proboards in terms of these long ass updates?

I thought we had smoothed things out with Proboards in terms of these long ass updates? If I remember right there is nothing we can do short of deleting the archives to speed it up. Basically the forum is one of the largest on Proboards (maybe the largest) and their backup screen is worded for boards that are 1/16 our size.

This pisses me off so much, because in England, when I get up to go to work, I'll get on the computer about half past 8 just to check the boards a bit see if anything happened overnight, and it'll be backing up, every morning, at the same time.

out of curiosity, why do we need the archived boards? I mean I kinda get the reasoning behind the John Tenta Fourm. But what about the ones below that?
