I should really watch some Star Wars. Only seen Phantom Menace Ugh, don't blame you for not rushing to see the rest after that piece of shit. You reallyyyy should watch episodes 4-6 though(I dug Revenge of The Sith too). Watching the Rifftrax version of the pod racing scene reminds me...it basically, Lucas post-'97 wanted to make Star Wars into the Muppet Show. (On another note, did any of you think Jim Henson worked on SW at one point or another too?)

Maybe as a consultant because Yoda and other creatures* in the original trilogy looked like something from the Jim Henson workshop. And that Frank Oz was the puppeteer and voice of Yoda (pretty much using the same voice he uses for Grover from Seseme Street). *mostly the ones that appear in Jabba's palace.

Hamill just confirmed at his panel a few seconds ago that his lines in the trailer are lifted from jedi, but the voice over it doing a reverb effect over the original lines were recorded last week by him in studio. and jj put both together for the teaser.

Looks like some details about stuff is confirmed in terms of plot details. Fairly minor stuff, but I'll put it in spoiler tags just in case. {Spoiler}- Finn and the Stormtroopers are part of a group called The First Order. They're one of (if not the only) the major Imperial holdouts after the Galactic Empire collapsed.
- The X-Wing using pilots using the old Rebel Alliance symbol call themselves The Resistance.
- The name of the desert planet seen in the teasers is Jakku. As confirmed in material for Star Wars Battlefront, Jakku was the site of a major battle between the Galactic Empire and the recently-declared New Republic sometime shortly after the Battle of Endor. As all non-movie works from hereon out are considered canon (it's all looked over and approved by a LucasFilm continuity team), this should make the New Republic official canon outside of the EU.
- It's unknown if the Resistance is just a name given to the guys fighting against the First Order on their occupied planets like Jakku or if the New Republic collapsed in between Endor and Episode VII.
- The X-Wings flown by Resistance pilots are T-70, which is an upgraded, modern version of the T-65 X-Wings seen in the original trilogy.

Alan Dean Foster is writing the novelization of TFA.
He is, of course, the uncredited ghostwriter of the original novelization back in 1977, and author of the 1st spin off SW book Splinter of the Mind's Eye.

Interesting, wonder if this will be like Star Wars meets Mission: Impossible. So I guess the first 'Dark Forces' game is not considered canon..

The only things that are canon now are Episodes 1-6,The Clone Wars cartoon(not the Genndy Tartakovsky one), Star Wars:Rebels and all novels released after 9/2/2014.

The modern RPG line is all gone through the continuity team as well. I'd gather that makes the FFG line all continuity as well, not there's anything particularly crazy in there.

Any game storylines are from hereon out are generally considered canon, too. SWTOR is an exception since it started out pre-EU revamp. But then it doesn't really matter if KOTOR, etc. are considered canon or not as they're 3500-4000 years before the movies anyway. They stand on their own.
Besides, there's been like 5 different, fairly incompatible stories about how the Rebels got the original Death Star plans so it's nice to see a movie that finally has a definitive, canonical answer. It was a canonical clusterf*** before.

Woah, the Ewok Specials aren't canon anymore? I'm not sure I want to live in a world where that's true.

I enjoyed the prequels, some reservations aside, and love the original trilogy.
I feel like now I'm properly getting excited about Ep7. I've avoided spoilers and have just been trying to adjust to getting new SW films period, and was a little underwhelmed by the first trailer. Now, what is it, 8 months out yet? Yeah, feeling it now.

It was a canonical clusterf*** before. I remember them saying that SWTOR would be considered as canon at one point just because it's so early that it doesn't make much of a difference if it was or not... So does that mean the Bothans will show up in Rogue one or are they going to ignore that line

Bothans were a big part of obtaining the Death Star II plans. This movie's about the original Death Star plans.

LIES! I mean yeah I forgot it was Mon Mothma that said the line which would have been Return of the Jedi.
Also as I post that I find a story from Bioware that says they aren't canon...but again... that shouldn't be a big deal.
