Can someone explain to me how it went from Kaiba corp hologram duels to dueling in motorcycle an schools . I really like Yugioh the first show an season 0 but i dislike the Zexal 5d Gx has its moments so its not bad. Zexal is a cheap Megaman plot 5D is a big WTF to me . They never really explained how CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES~! were created, but the school is easy. Kaiba opened up Duel Academia after the events of Yu-Gi-Oh. Everyone else caught on the idea and duel schools of all kind began appearing like cockroaches all over (including duel prep-schools). And 5Ds isn't so much of a WTF excluding the end parts. Where Yusei cheats so blatantly the fabric of time and space just gave up. At least in the Japanese version, as I never saw the English one. Or the Portuguese one for that matter

Zexal is my favorite series of all of them. It's like a reboot of the first Duel Monsters series, only better.

Mokuba only appears in a flashback from one of the characters (and non-voiced at that). But Kaiba is still the president of Kaiba Corp., as he is shown at least twice in the series (and remains a top notch duelist if we assume some things from those episodes that never aired in America).

I followed GX up until the Destiny Heroes were introduced, to which by that point, it couldn't hold my attention anymore. I liked Zane and his Cyber Dragons deck, and was pretty pleased to find out he went evil later.
I saw a glimpse of 5Ds, saw the motorcycles, and stopped watching. The less said about Zexal, the better. Honestly, the story of the Pharaoh (Atem) was the only true thing that made Yu-Gi-Oh worth watching.

Y'know I only really watched up until just after Yugi beat Pegasus, but is the "Shadow Realm" still a thing? It never bothered me as much as others, but the one other episode I saw involving "dark energy disks" really confused me.

The "Shadow Realm" was only in the English version, so that they could get around things like death. 4Kids just added special effects to that episode. In the original, they're just regular saws that'll cut the loser's legs off. It really got stupid in an episode where Yugi and Kaiba were tag dueling against two of Marik's servants on top of a building. In the original, the losers would fall through the glass ceiling to the deaths. In the dub, the losers would fall through the glass into the "Shadow Realm". 4Kids even added silly glowing effects to that, too. But, surprisingly, they didn't censor the Yugi vs. Possessed!Joey duel (where the loser would be dragged to the bottom of the sea with an anchor).

Nice to know drowning is okay, yet saw blades and falling to your death is too far.

The 4kids dub of Yu-Gi-Oh is one of the worst anime dubs of all time.
It's fine to change things to make it a little more kid friendly, but it got to the point during the Battle City arc that the dialogue changed so much in the dub that it wasn't even the same plot as the original.

That's my biggest problem with censorship in general, there's no consistency in what is deemed acceptable and what's not.

Or changing the whole Seal of Orichalcos plot to make it seem like the people in the group the holds the card have no idea what they're doing when in the original, they know exactly what they're doing. Like somehow it's too much for kids to see that these guys might be doing it on purpose.

The reason I loved the doma arc is because they did not shy away from taking the series to its darkest.
Evil Yugi was damn nere a serial killer and even more so what he did to weevil which was awesome.
And thats along with all the soul snatching that went on , the entire arc was filler but damn did it get real dark.

I did watch the original show but not so much the knock off shows like GX and 5Ds. I just got back to playing the card game about a few months ago.

I'm really into the TCG which I have been playing for 12 years and the only reason I don't play anymore is through lack of competition in my area. Getting geared up for next years tournament circuit and thinking about even trying to go for Worlds. Even after topping in some locals and stuff I never really wanted to go further but next year I'm going for it.

I completely dislike Zexal, the design of the characters surpasses the silly and weird from the past 3 series to just straight ridiculous.
