Love the third one, just incredible amounts of fun.
On Stranger Tides is a disturbingly large pile of crap.

I rank them from best to worst 1 4 2 3 I like the franchise, and I'm looking forward to 5. I just want more ham-to-ham combat between Depp and Rush i go back and forth on which ranking i'd give 2 and 4, but thats about the same order i'd give them 3 is probably the only movie i can think of where i can say it went on waaaaaaaaaaaay too long (i don't even say that about Return of the King) and it would have been a lot better if they cut down the ending battle |

I must be the only one that liked 3 over 2. My biggest problem with 4 was they had to shoehorn in the love story between the Preacher and Mermaid. They gave us absolutely no reason to care about either and at the end, you don't even notice they're gone.

Loved the first movie, liked the last 2. There's a dropoff, and I think if you just stick to the 1st you'll appreciate it more. 2 and 3 were good, but it got ridiculous as they went on (3 especially).
I very clearly recall laughing at the trailer when it first came out, thinking "a movie based on a Disney ride?? WTF is this foolishness?!"
....so I walked out of the 1st film majorly impressed and also slightly embarrassed, because they totally showed me this was a possible thing with an excellent result.

My personal best-to-worst: Curse Of The Black Pearl, At World's End, Dead Man's Chest, On Stranger Tides. And OST wouldn't have been so disappointing if it was part of any other pirate franchise.

I too was expecting a Big, Sexy Hook.
that song's pretty much ruined the movie for me. I can't think about it without hearing Michael Bolton singing about Johnny Depp at the top of his lungs.
