I can't really see Schlereth doing something like that. Go back and listen to those two during the Colin Cowherd show the first time they talk about the whole Benoit situation. They do exactly that. |

Phil Mushnick will probably blame his death on urban culture and use it start as a launchpad for some racist tirade. Either that or blame Vince McMahon... somehow.
I know he works for the NY Post and all, and that paper is pretty much the gold standard for trashy tabloids masquerading as legitimate newspapers, but I really don't get how he still has a job. He's a sad, pathetic, jealous little man.

To say that it doesn't get any respect is an understatement. Seemingly decent people will allow some really harsh, unfair words to escape their mouths. |

Greeny and Golic like to have fun on their show, so it also goes to whoever is in studio. They have more fun, and are relaxed. Cowherd on the other hand, there's not that environment on his show. |

Pro wrestling got drug through the ringer with the Benoit thing. The WWE couldn't even mention his name anymore due to the negative press they were getting. The hypocrisy & double-talk we're going to endure will make me sick. Nobody gave a s*** what was wrong with Benoit mentally. They viewed him as a monster and led a witch hunt against ANYBODY that had a positive thing to say about him. I'm willing to bet everything I have that that won't be the case here. Jovan killed the mother of his child right in front of her mother, yet he won't get 1/10 of the treatment Benoit got.

We're also 5 years past with far more research and belief in head trauma (even minor) causing mental issues in a sport that is focused on that at the moment. We're also looking at an organization that has a comprehensive drug testing policy that is strictly enforced and not one that admits to this day you can get a pass by having a doctor's note. Just like Benoit has people who love him and cannot believe he did what he did, this man will have the same. He will also have people who hate him with every fiber of their being calling him a monster. Also the NFL has been through this before (Rae Carruth, OJ, Leonard Little, Dante Stallworth) and went through hell. People campaign every year for OJ to be removed from record books and the HoF. Even now the NFL is currently fighting within itself over issues dealing with players, player culture and ongoing issues because of football that has been ongoing for 5 years or more. We are also dealing with two entirely different beasts. NFL hasn't fought for years to hide from regulators and the government. The NFL wasn't built on secrets and lies, compounded by more secrets and lies. Sadly, most important to this instance, we are not dealing with one of the stars of the NFL and a guy about to win a major title/award when he did this that then had a 3 hour prime time show devoted to him. |

I don't know if anybody in the Chiefs orginization is familiar with the complexities of the Benoit fallout, but they seem to be wanting to avoid honoring someone involved in a murder so as not to fall into the same quicksand puddle the WWE did.

Yeah the same NFL but they aren't the only ones. No one listened to or believed the studies into head injuries until recently. Absolutely no one except the families of those affected and the scientists listened to those studies or gave a damn until recently and that is a damned fact. Hell, if the NFL wasn't pushing it now, people still wouldn't give a damn. |
