I think it's pretty fair to say that either fair or by screw (probably by screw), CM Punk's losing that match, and the WWE Championship along with it. The reason being so he can enter the Royal Rumble, which they've been hyping as anyone can enter, and win it. So Punk loses the world title, enters the Rumble via the 'laxed rules, and wins it to go to WrestleMania as the chaser.

It's possible, although if Punk loses the title before the match, he could enter the Rumble anyway since he wouldn't be champion then.

It's gotta be Jericho. Otherwise, what has this all been building towards?

I hope that's not the route they go, just because I really don't like when the Rumble winner is somebody that's already been champion. It's tolerable when they haven't had a title in a while or if they're just coming back from an extended absence (HHH in 2002, Edge in 2009) but I generally prefer winners of the Rumble to be getting their first main event push (HBK in '96, Austin in '98, Benoit in 2004).
Having the same guy that entered the Rumble PPV as WWE champion win the Rumble match would just render the entire evening pointless IMO. Though I would mark for Ziggler getting the belt.

Now that Miz is the #1 entrant this year, that means one or both of the people that started a Rumble since 2003 have either been a former WWE/Heavyweight champ or won the belt that year.
2003:HBK/Jericho 2004:Benoit/Orton(both won it that year) 2005:Eddie/Benoit 2006:HHH/Mysterio(won it that year) 2007:Ric Flair 2008:Undertaker/HBK 2009:Mysterio 2010:Dolph Ziggler(this one is a stretch since he was champ for about 10 minutes but its still in the books) 2011:Punk/Bryan(won it at the end of the year) 2012:Miz

Oh it was last year? Ah nevermind it screws everything up then!! Unless its since 2003 at least one of the first two entrants was a former champ or became a champ sometime in their career. The streak could've been since 2001(Jeff Hardy), but I doubt Rikishi or Goldust will win the title anytime soon.

If anyone can enter, who's to say that either the WHC or WWE Champ (whoever they may be when the Rumble match comes up) doesn't come in, win and set up a title unification match at WrestleMania?

It's gotta be Jericho. Otherwise, what has this all been building towards? facing the undertaker duh. But it seems everything he's been doing has been to hype up his Royal Rumble appearance. So I don't think what they have planned for Jericho is Undertaker related. And if not Jericho, who's Punk going to face at Wrestlemania?

And if not Jericho, who's Punk going to face at Wrestlemania? How about this theory: Jericho wins the title on Sunday somehow, Punk enters the Rumble and wins, and we get Jericho-Punk at WM.

Honestly, I think it'd be interesting if DBD won the rumble, and then declared "I choose my own title, therefore I will NOT have to put it on the line at Wrestlemania!", just to see the sort of heat it would garner.

Better yet, he puts on a match where he wrestles himself.
