I liked Prometheus but loved it after seeing the Red Letter Media review (I didn't see it in theaters). The only reason TDR was disappointing to me was because of the Colorado shooting. I hate that what happened will always be associated to TDR in my mind....
My most disappointing movie would have to be Expendables 2. Not exactly for the same reasons as Koda but because there was not enough action for the promotion of the actors advertised for the movie. The end scene was flat out amazing but that didn't save it for me.
My surprise favorite movie would be Dredd. I don't buy blu ray's on day one, especially super expensive 3D ones, but I want to support that movie because it really was good and came out of nowhere for me

Wanderlust. I normally like David Wain's work and I find Paul Rudd funny so I thought I would enjoy this. I think I laughed 2 or 3 times. I found it to be quite dull.

The Dark Knight Returns. I was so excited for Bane a bruiser with brains and the soul of a poet. Then we got whatever that was.
Brave. I liked it a lot, but I expect more from Pixar, and with this movie I really mean more. It needed to be longer. It felt like a few short stories tacked together and never really delivered on the promises of rough and tumble princess or the life with Mom-bear. Good movie, just missing a middle part.

The Amazing Spider-man sucked.
The Dark Knight Rises wasn't terrible but it could have been much better. I hated the ending.
Edit: I loved Skyfall and I enjoyed Prometheus (even though it's flawed).

I came into DKR expecting it to not exceed or even match TDK. I figured it needs to meet or beat BB for me to consider it good. It did, so I'm cool with it.
No, the most disappointing movie for me this year was Prometheus by a country mile. Great visuals, decent casting, awful script. I think it could be held up as a prime example that a crap script can drag down all the effort in the world of the rest of the production.

Skyfall-GREAT opening, really drug, and didn't feel like a Bond film till toward the end Yeah, I definitely agree with this. Others... - The Dark Knight: It bored me to death. I hated the goofy Bane voice and was very disappointed in Anne Hathaway's performance. Not a horrible movie, but definitely my least favorite of the three. - Cabin in the Woods: This movie had been hyped so much, I think that's what made it so disappointing to me. EDIT: I forgot all about Amazing Spider-Man. Oh how I loathed that movie.

I didn't see any movies that I came out of thinking "I wish I didn't spend money on that" this year. So for me, even the more disappointing movies were still worth the watch. DKR was great up until the last act, where I felt it fall apart. The Amazing Spider-Man was fun, but the villain was pretty terrible and I really didn't want to see the origin story again. The worst movie I saw was John Carter, but that was on TV and I had no inclination that it was going to be good, so I wasn't disappointed. There are still a lot of movies this year that I need to see.

Prometheus, and to a much lesser extent Amazing Spiderman.

Smiley. You'd think a horror movie about the Internet made by young Internet celebrities (the kind of people who know this genre well and how to avoid its clichés) would be able to bring something new to the table, but we got what is possibly the dullest, least imaginative, most predictable horror flick in decades. No cliché is spared and not a single one is being toyed around with. And you have to see them try to scare us with Internet slang and memes.
And it could have worked by feeding on the fear of something mundane as many horror fictions do, but they never go there and it's pretty amazing how they seem to go out of their way to make the viewer feel any connection to the events of the movie.
Oh and also: jumpscares. Lots and lots of jumpscares. Because these days "psychological horror" apparently translates to "Jack-in-the-box trick that a kitten can pull off that you immediately laugh off and forget". And they are some of the cheapest ones I've seen too and of course they're accompanied by an overblown music sting to make sure we know we're supposed to be scared now. It seriously became the horror equivalent of a laugh track.

Looper as it was nowhere near as clever or original as it was made out to be.

Promotheus is probably the biggest let down for me. While I liked The Dark Knight Rises it wasn't anything special really and it was way too long.

Prometheus forgot the story and the main character in Brave was so bloody unlikeable it ruined the film for me.

I just can't understand how they managed to make it boring. I also didn't expect them to play things straight. And honestly, I found Dawson & crew to be surprisingly good.

The Amazing Spider-Man. It really had me fooled. The last month of marketing got me excited, I thought "maybe they got something here"... Nope. Andrew Garfield's horrible forced stuttering, awful characterization and unrelatable. One of the worst scripts for a summer blockbuster this year. And THAT ending... I could write a book on why that ending completely negated everything else the movie had setup. Emma Stone was the only good thing about it and she couldn't save it.
