Just a quote that helped me for the moment:
"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.' To this day, especially in times of 'disaster,' I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world." - Fred Rogers

Fox is now saying Ryan's brother, Adam, was the shooter. And that Ryan is actually in police custody, and not a suspect at this time. I should add that the reason Ryan Lanza was originally reported as being the shooter is because Adam Lanza was carrying his ID on his person during the shooting.

I think a good way to start isn't to rank this against any other school shooting, as they're all tragic. Yes, it is the second worst shooting ever, but remember after Virginia Tech? Remember what other troubled kids were saying? I remember at least 3 stories about kids talking about how they were "going to top" Virginia Tech like it was some kind of challenge. What is this fascination with being an infamous person? Some people just get off on the idea of being mentioned by the media and public officials and if it means going outside the law to do so, they will. Herostratus is an example showing this has happened for more than 2300 years. Infamy is tempting for people who want to be remembered at all costs.

f*** everything about humanity. Then why mourn our dead? Those children were human, too. It's too easy to fall into this kind of thinking, but that we are upset at all is proof that humanity has purpose. I know, it's just my mind could only really process two posts and the other involved a lot of swearing.

I feel so terrible for all of those victims. I can't even imagine the absolute horror those children went through.

Herostratus is an example showing this has happened for more than 2300 years. Infamy is tempting for people who want to be remembered at all costs. The problem is the level that it has gotten to, while massacres have been happening for thousands of years, with the type of coverage these stories get nowadays, the types of crimes like this have escalated, especially with copycats. After Jonesboro, shootings were getting some major coverage...and as a result, shootings began to happen more often. So something is definitely going on.

How do you recover from your young child being murdered at school? Sadly, some never will. No parent should ever have to go through what these parents are going through.

How do you recover from your young child being murdered at school? I can just imagine them looking at their presents under the tree, knowing they won't be able to open them.

How do you recover from your young child being murdered at school? I know. My mom and I were talking about that earlier. Instead of looking forward to having the holidays with your family and loved ones, you have to plan your baby's funeral. I feel as though the parents are also victims. Such a horrible situation.

This is from personal experience from both me and my mom. My brother was murdered by a doctor, I was and still am angry at the world for it but you don't ever fully recover from the death of a child or a sibling or a friend, you go on day by day remembering them and keeping them in your hearts. You never ever recover you try and continue your life.

One thing you'll see around the country is that Schools are going to be really tight on their policies regarding visitors passes.
People aren't just going to be allowed to walk into schools and wander around simply because they say that they're related to someone who works there.

Hell I remember when I was in HS I was walking on the sidewalk in front of my old Middle School and had the old Vice Principal and a cop come yell at me telling me Im not allowed there. Despite being on the sidewalk infront of the school and not on school property, after my school was over... Or that was more because the VP hated me with a passion. One of those.
