I wish they'd hurry up and announce some more damn entries for this thing... Are your average midcarders like Miz, Kingston and R-Truth really worth keeping their entries into the match as a surprise?

That was icky. But I'm going by the match page at WWE.com, and they only have the 9 I've got in my graphic.

There were only about 9 or 10 guys confirmed before Rumble day last year. A lot of that had to do with how many surprise entries there were and the losers of the big title matches yet to be determined. That included Kharma, Road Dogg, Hacksaw Duggan, Jerry Lawler, Booker T, Michael Cole, Ricardo Rodriguez, a returning Great Khali, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show and Mark Henry who had to be replaced by Jey Uso.
Then there were guys WWE didn't even bother promoting for the match because they knew they wouldn't help sell it like Epico, Primo, Alex Riley, David Otunga etc
I remember we all thought John Cena and Kane would enter the Rumble match but surprisingly they never did. So it's possible Team Hell No and the Rhodes Scholars won't be in the Rumble match. Logic would tell you that there's no point not having them in it, but it could depend on how many surprise entries are planned. Having eight surprise entries last year (not counting the title losers) was a very different approach.
So maybe we're in for...
John Cena, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, Antonio Cesaro, Wade Barrett, The Miz, 3MB, The Shield, WHC loser, WWE Championship Loser, Kofi Kingston, The Great Khali, Ryback, Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara, Brodus Clay, Tensai, Zack Ryder, Brad Maddox, Christian, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, R-Truth, Vader, and Bob Backlund. Or different guys like Honky Tonk Man, Chris Jericho, Big Daddy V, Rikishi, Big E Langston etc
There's also supposed to be a battle royal at Fanfest to determine a Rumble spot. It seems geared towards a Zack Ryder or Brad Maddox winning it but I expect guys like the Usos, Colons, JTG, Otunga, PTP, Gabriel, McGillicutty, and Yoshi Tatsu to participate.

I was watching some old MVP clips, and I know the chances are pretty much nonexistent, but I'd love for him to make a short appearance, tunnel and all.

Not sure why they even bother announcing these Rumble entrants, we can pretty much figure out who is gonna be in it. The world title matches are already booked.

I just hope the surprises will be worth it. After the let down RAW's 20th Anniversary left me I have a low hope on who they will have for surprise entrants

It's a small thing, but the old school line-ups where they'd announce another couple of names each week really helped build the anticipation. They'd mix big names in with the mid-carders and announce the surprise entrants as well. Again, it was a small touch that doesn't seem to matter much...but it did.

Yeah I liked that and also midcard rumble qualifying matches.

Is the crowd in Phoenix usually a good one?

Is the crowd in Phoenix usually a good one? I think they are ok at best if I remember correctly, if not a bit hot and cold. They have held Cyber Sunday 2008 and Judgement Day 2006 in the same arena, and I remember CS being a decent to good PPV with the crowd being into Jericho vs Batista (maybe if only for the special refs) and HHH vs Hardy. I still think this should have been the year when they had the Royal Rumble in Chicago. Especially with Rock vs Punk, Daniel Bryan and Kane, and the Royal Rumble match. The Rumble match especially is one that baffles me how they have not ever held a Rumble event in Chicago before, with a crowd like that

Dean Ambrose should enter at #1 and make it through #73 before winning it all. that's how good he is.

It's either a huge oversight or the arenas in Chicago are just always booked around that time. Though that said, I don't think they would have booked it in Chicago knowing they planned on turning Punk heel to face the Rock.

Everything big in the Phoenix valley is such a sterile experience.

This really need ten minutes?

So we know Ryback, Daniel Bryan and Kane are in the Rumble and it's likely Rhodes and Sandow are there too. The rest of those guys were probably just filler for tonight.

Maybe The Prime Time Players too, since they got mic time on the matter. I'm adding Miz, Ryback, PTP and Hell No to the poster, since they were referenced in the WWE.com RAW report as being in.
