Game 6 of last year's World Series.
The Rangers were so f***ing close to finally winning it all, all they needed to do was close out the game. Didn't happen. What makes it worse is they had the Cards by the balls multiple times. Several times they had them on their final out of the game and they would score to give them new life.....

As a Newcastle fan I have a multitude of games I could select, I'll only add a few though: - Losing 4-1 at home to Pompey. - Losing 6-1 away to Leyton Orient (although admittedly that was only a pre-season friendly and it ended up working to our advantage as it really forced the players to get their shit together) - Losing 4-2 on aggregate to Sporting Lisbon, especially given we'd been 2 up on aggregate in the 2nd leg. - Losing 3-2 to Wolves in the FA Cup was pretty bad given that it could have been a lot worse and we were actually a decent team at that point - Worst of all though was losing 1-0 to Villa in the game that saw us relegated, absolute crushing blow. And that Jets game from Tuesday, man that was embarrassing. Yeah add this to my list, horrific.

1996, Southampton beat Man U 3-1. Fergie's reason for the defeat ? Man U's away kit at the time was grey and he said they could not see each other while wearing it. So they trooped out in the second half in blue. Didn't help, but at least they got a goal.

As a mets fan, the game where Luis Castillo dropped the pop up at Yankee stadium that cost the mets the game stung like a b****.

I'm a White Sox fan that was living in the North Side of Chicago in 2003. Watching the Cubs completely blow game 6 of the NLCS made me feel bad for the Cubs and their fans. I can't imagine how much worse it was for them.

That was one of my top 5 all-time sports moments period. As for crushing losses, the entire 2004 World Series. I know people were happy the "curse" was lifted, but as a Cards fan MLB's constant replays of it irritate the shit out of me. And Super Bowl XXXVI can kiss my black ass.

1993/1994 Pittsburgh Penguins.
David F***ING Volek.
Donovan McNabb literally throwing up during the Super Bowl and blowing a winnable game against the invincible Patriots despite having shit (aside from TO) for offensive talent.

That Manchester derby last season. Still hurts, especially since they went on to win the league.

Let's go down my list of disappoints:
1998-1999 NFC Championship - Falcons beat the 15-1 Vikings 30-27 in OT after Gary Anderson (who hadn't missed all season) missed a 38 yard FG.
Super Bowl XXXIX - New England beats the Eagles 24-21. Not a bad loss or anything, just stings and reaffirms why I loathe Tom Brady.
2007 BCS National Championship - Florida destroys Ohio State 41-14.
2008 BCS National Championship - LSU beats Ohio State 38-24. Dammit.
2009-2010 NFC Championship - Saints beat the Vikings 31-28 in OT after NO head-hunted Favre and the refs made horrible PI calls on Minnesota.
There are others but these are the ones that were the most soul crushing.

For me it was a few years ago, when the Ravens went 13-3 and lost to the Colts in the divisional game. We had a legitimate chance to win, too. Even the past couple playoff losses against Pittsburgh didn't hurt as much as that.

Super Bowl 38: Kasey kicking it out of bounds, Brady driving down the short field and Vinateri kicking it right down broadway.
2006 NFC Championship: Getting ran out of the stadium by Seattle.
2008 NFC Division Round: Delhomme throwing four-thousand inteceptions to the Cardinals.
2002 Stanley Cup Finals Game Three: Detriot wins in Triple Overtime and basically won the series.
2010 NHL Final Day: Getting blown out by Tampa to miss the playoffs after the Rangers won earlier in the day.

It isn't #1, but the Reds loss to San Francisco this past Fall was really hard to take. Up 2-0, three straight games at Great American Ballpark to go, and in Game 3 Homey Bailey has a no hitter going through 6 innings. Couldn't get another win. It's hard to fathom how that happened. This. I still can't believe they lost Game 3. After that, I had the sinking feeling of what was going to happen.

E-Sports count right? For that it has to be USA vs the World at Seasons Beatings this year, that was just painful with most of the US team picking secondary and joke teams and still running over the World Players.

January 22nd, 2006 - an incredible season comes to a crushing finish. Even though we beat them last season, that one still stings.
