I just had a question about some of the talent that has come through TNA, but that has also been associated with big foreign companies like AAA and NJPW. Are they ever signed to contracts? In particular I was wondering about Okada. I remember his short stint with TNA, but was he ever an official TNA star? I'm pretty sure he was still signed to NJPW at the time, but I could be wrong.

IIRC, TNA had an agreement [still does?] with New Japan where they'd take some of the wrestlers they sent on their foreign excursions, and that gave them Okada/Team No Limit. Not sure exactly for the AAA wrestlers, but I think TNA does have a working agreement.

TNA was supposed to get El Zorro, but something happened there (rumored to be one of the reasons Terry Taylor got fired) they also got Jack Evans for last year's Destination X.
AAA got Jeff Jarrett and Abyss as regulars, and when TNA wanted to push Hernandez as a star they sent him to AAA to learn how to be a Main Eventer.
I don't think TNA has the agreement with New Japan anymore, but they did do a deal with NOAH earlier this year I believe.

TNA and the other company will work out a talent exchange. The wrestler is never actually signed to a contract with the company they're being sent to.
I can't help but wonder if anyone in TNA is taking credit for Okada exploding in NJPW.

Learning a different country's style can be really good for you. I mean, Dragon Gate upon opening was basically full of guys that Ultimo Dragon taught based on his experience in Japan, Mexico and USA.

One of the Puroresu traditions is to send some of their up and coming talent around the world for experience. At the time, NJPW had a working agreement with TNA so they sent guys over for experience. No Limit and Okada were sent over and used as enhancement talent by TNA. No Limit went back home while Okada stayed a bit longer. When TNA finally got around to use for something other than a jobber, he had months left on his excursion. So he got a Kato gimmick and was mostly beat up by the Pope.
