So I noticed recently that when watching some DVDs that their is some, I guess interference on the screen. I don't see it for Blu-Rays, just regular DVDs. Now some games won't play. I can't play COD, Final Fantasy, or Battlefield. Fall of Cybertron was loading. The game will load, we'll hit start, and then a black screen. I restored the settings. Not completely, but I did the compact one. I tried Battlefield again, and I was able to start a game, then it froze and I got the black screen again. Any ideas?

No ideas, but sympathy. I have a first generation 80GB PS3 and I pray that it holds out until PS4 comes out.

I had some similar issues and it took repair by Sony to fix it.

Sounds like the thing is falling apart inside, as a result of the corners Sony cut in production. I think it's a reball you'll be on the look out for, as pretty much replaces Sony's soldering, while a reflow just fixes the damage, and generally tends to die again a few months later. Reballing will be the more expensive option, but is seemingly worth it.
Sony themselves offer a repair service, but it'll cost you over 100 euro to get it done through them, unless it's still under warranty.

Does the audio still work? I think my video card went poof, everything works but the video. Obviously.

The audio works when something is actually playing. Once I get the black screen, it locks up.

Which make of the PS3 is it: the original, or the slim? Also, if you live in the US: gophermods.com/
