as a commentator.
I was watching the Top 50 moves dvd on netflix and man oh man is he annoying.
Just trying way too hard to sound credible and smart.
It's like he's taking the whole "be a story teller, not a sports commentator" thing we heard about Joey styles and overcompensating.

Yeah, I've been watching a lot of main event matches from 09/10 and even as someone who considered himself a fan of Striker, I am finding myself often annoyed by a lot of the goofy things he said. I would still maintain he was good on ECW though.

At his very worst, he's still not as bad as Taz.

.....because you NE-E-E-E-E-E-EEEEEEEVVVVVVER KNOW!!!!!!
Seriously, Matt, I liked you as a commentator (and still, whenever I bother to watch Superstars online) but that was so cringeworthy.

He was fantastic on ECW, and wasn't bad for the first few months on Smackdown. Even now I maintain the belief that he's pretty decent, but I can understand why people find him annoying.

I think this was mentioned by someone before, but the guy comes off as way too much of a 'mark'. I can understand that the guy is passionate about wrestling, but when he's on commentary he went way OTT with his reactions when stuff happened.
I was re-watching Survivor Series 2009 the other day, and when HBK superkicked HHH at the start of the match he sounded like a 9-year old kid. The absolute worst though was when Booker returned at the Rumble last year, just embarrassing to listen to.
Its like he HAS to overreact to everything because otherwise he would be left in the dark by Cole and Lawler who, even though they're not great, are still superior to him and actually know how to call a match in a calm and proper fashion. All Striker seemed to do was either state pointless facts, blurt out incredibly corny one-liners or mark out like an obnoxious teenager.

I didn't want to pile on, because it's Christmas Eve and I thought he deserved a break, but eugh. I hate how he'd try to come up with 10 nicknames for every guy just so he could rattle them all off at once as soon as they'd transition to their comeback offense.

At his very worst, he's still not as bad as Taz. I don't know much about Striker, but to me Taz is much much more bearable than Jerry Lawler.

This moment has become instantly classic. Almost wonder if he was told to really tone down his reaction, because that was very un-Striker like.

Christian". That was Grisham. Striker added on the smarmy in-joke. Kind of like how Striker's idea for getting Christian's finisher over was to talk about some stupid band.

OK, I was hearing Striker's voice in my mind whenever I think about that. I'll have to find the video or something.

I was always a fan of Striker. I mean, I get why some people don't like him, but I always enjoyed his mark comments and name dropping (i.e. Prince Nana).

I like him cuz it seemed like he really wanted to put the product over as exciting in a way other than yelling "OOOOH MYY", but he got really annoying at times. I hated when he worked with Cole and King and they just ignored him or made him sound like an idiot when it seemed like he's the only one who knew what he was talking about.

It's a mark out moment bro! That line didn't bother me, but the "Pleeeease! Please do it!!!" when Booker was teasing the spinaroonie was awful.
