I was watching a montage of F5's on the top 50 dvd and yet I still wasn't impressed after all these years. Even by WWE video package standards.
It's just a fireman's carry into a spinning flapjack. Sure it looks crazy on cruiserweights, but so does the FU. On regular and huge guys, it just looks like a spinning fireman's carry.
speaking of video montages, the FU/AA, and the Top 50 dvd. That FU/AA montage made that move look awesome. He just chucked some guys. Not just the cruiserweights. It was hilarious the way he just tossed Batista and Khali like nothing.

They often say "It's just a fireman's carry", as if that was much of a complaint. It's like saying "A DDT is just a facelock and you fall over". You're going to need a better argument than that, or you can just admit your problem is with the one doing it.

Yeah, I've never had a problem with the AA. Visually it generally looks good and from a kayfabe standpoint, it's a big strong guy throwing you over his head onto the mat.

I like both finishers. I really think that is we can by the Rock Bottom, we can buy the AA.

The way Brock swings his opponent and the force they hit the mat with seems more impressive than the AA, which seems like John is casually dropping his opponent.

It's the way the guy gets thrown. When the F5 is done and sold right it looks like a million bucks.
Cena, mostly in the past, threw the AA/FU really freaking soft, like he was trying to throw the guy on an egg and not break it. Not much you can do with with the sell because you're just getting dumped on your back.

Kind of ironic that the F5 only looks cool when done to cruisers and the FU only looks cool when done to superheavies.

Because it's John Cena doing the AA/FU and John Cena's NOT doing the F5.

There's a way to do that move and make it look dangerous, but Cena doesn't do it that way. I think he did a little when he first used it, though, and it looks good then. Brock's F5, meanwhile, is lifting up a man into a tough position and then flinging him around and down to the mat. It's tough to make that look casual.

The AA looks better than it used to.
When he first started doing it, all he'd do was Shrug his shoulders and let the guy flop off.
Now at least he follows the opponent down to the ground somewhat closer to a (Goldust/Farrooq-style) powerslam.

Yeah, its the way Cena delivers the AA/FU. Though recently he did one to someone (Ziggler?) where he just threw them and it looked really cool.

On a tangential note, Cena rarely does the FU as a Samoan Driver, it looks weird coming from him, but looks more badass than the normal AA and F-5 combined For example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO_R482oQQA

The F5 was a thing a beauty, I always looked at it like people are landing on their face like a DDT almost... You are being swung in the air then landing on your face
Cena's AA have gotten better, I don't mind them so much now.

Really to me the AA only started looking bad when Cena was doing the Monster of the Week period from in 07-08. Seemed like they were either too large and hard for him to put any really oommph to it or he was trying not to hurt them with the drop.

I love the F5, and is one of my favorite finishers of all time. Even if the only version I like is Brock's, I never liked the way Big Show, Gunner, Matt Morgan's versions etc. The FU/AA is ok but it just depends who is selling it and how much effort Cena puts into it, I have really liked some versions of the move that Cena has done over the years and the way he has transitioned into it (like the Jericho one at Summerslam05) but other times it just doesn't look good imo. The F5 still wins for me. Plus Lesnar has F5d a shark, until Cena AA's a bear it is inferior

Because Cena used to just lazily drop them, see his match against Jesus.

I don't agree with the "F5 only looked good on Cruisers" sentiment.
It looked amazing when he did to Mark Henry and Rikishi.
