I mean, the man tries to be buddy-buddy with John Cena, then lays down the tag titles when Barrett tells him to...when he clearly doesn't trust Barrett to begin with.

Then he and the rest of Nexus force Barrett to have Cena rehired, effectively letting a man bully them when he could have just sued him for it...being a lawyer and all. Then even though Cena says he won't touch the rest of Nexus, gets his ass kicked anyways.

Then when he could have taken over Nexus himself, like he always wanted, he helps bring in CM Punk...the guy that always has treated his stables like garbage and is an awful, awful leader.

IRRC he even did something more stupid when he guest hosted Raw back when NXT season 1 was still going on. He had a tag team title match in the main event with John Cena as his partner. Instead of winning the titles , He left John Cena alone in the ring to lose, so that Batista can have his revenge at the end of the night. So he basically gave up an opportunity to win a title while still being a rookie.
